So, am I correct to assume that pro-Palestine protesters are secretly organizing in an attempt to launch a coordinated protest so big that not even Trump can stop it?

They seem to be somewhat aware that their First Amendment rights are about to be less respected. Some might still be relishing in the ceasefire agreement, but I don't expect them to raise their voices much as Trump starts being more explicitly pro-Israel and anti-Gaza sympathizers.

To be fair, "oust Trump" was a really extreme option and there is some middle ground between that and showing no resistance. I didn't vote in the poll, but I expect any resistance to be effectively quashed by the Trump administration or local red-leaning governments. To say that they had an insignificant impact on the 2024 election, whether or not they were a "but-for" cause, is extremely ignorant of last year's cultural landscape.

She did a decent job, given the timeframe we were forced into when anti-establishment liberals (and some mainstream CNN hacks) threw a huge ass attention-grabbing hissy fit over Biden's poor debate performance. As if we haven't had old ass presidents stay in office while still keeping our country stably afloat. It's highly insulting that people that shit on both the Biden and Harris campaigns in 2024 have the nerve to blame them for their losses.

The same place BLM went. Or the Women's March. Or, to go further back, Vietnam War protests.

Protests require energy, effort, and attention to maintain. People burn our, especially when they're facing professional and legal consequences. It becomes harder to attract new voices if it doesn't seem like change is possible. And the media stops paying attention as the novelty wears off.

The campus protests that drew such attention last spring either didn't exist or received a fraction of the attention even by fall semester, with Biden still in office.

The Black community risked everything to make the civil rights movement work, and now they have opted to rest and heal rather than risk themselves for the groups that spurned their preferred candidate.

Depends. Are the Palestine protestors doing anything other than protesting? Because if you're trying to say they're different because the civil rights protestors also boycotted and took other defiant actions, then the Palestine protestors are looking pretty weak in comparison.

I think they were trying to distinguish the difference between those two groups. As far as I know, there haven't been much pro-Palestine supporters willing to protest in front of Trump's face.

No, nothing depends. The civil rights movement were protesting for their own communities. The protestors were also victims. They were not protesting on behalf of another country's oppressed people except when it intersected with their own oppression. For the civil rights movement, it was fight or die.

But on a more basic level, anti-genocide isn't really the same thing as civil rights. While there's a lot in common, there's a far more accurate protest to draw a comparison to: the Vietnam war protests. It checks basically all the same boxes. We just called it war or "protecting people from communism" instead of genocide.

While the war technically broke out under Johnson, the news cycle was slower back then, and the Gulf of Tonkin incident enraged Americans to action. The majority of the protests at the time were about the draft, not the war itself. We could kind of say that was like the October 7 Hamas attack.

But then Nixon took over, and later Ford. The escalation of the war went into full gear there and more people became aware of the destruction we were causing over there and started protesting both the government and the military for what they did.

And guess what? They lost the election because of it.
