If you can even reach the arm. The bat can be used to hold you at length (collegiate and pro length is 34 inches which is longer than most people's arms).

Bat for the reach. Could put a sock or something similar on the end to prevent the opponent grabbing it. I'm more experienced swinging a bat than stabbing/cutting with a knife.

These. They act like you can't move or move and attack at the same time. A bat can be versatile.

Also, T-Ball bats are pretty handy if one needs better handling. They're smaller so while they don't have the weight/force like a typical baseball bat has, they're quicker to use and can still knock TF out of someone.

bats are not that great in close range as you may think. like in rooms. it takes a lot of space to wind one up. they're better for disabling then anything else short of a head shot. The reach is good but the space you need to take advantage, recovery time, are hindrances. If you can tank a bat swing, even if it breaks something, the attacker may be fairly open for a counter.

A knife has way less range, but is much deadlier in my opinion. you have slashing and stabbing abilities and a more nimble offense.

People really underestimate how quickly you can get stabbed to the point of being incapable of fighting back. Reach is super important, but most people are just gonna get stabbed while they try to flail, and I'm talking about in a no training vs no training scenario.

Bat for the simple reason I know how to swing a bat comfortably and am proficient with it. I'm not proficient at wielding a knife for offensive purposes. Just for kitchen use.

I mean sure you can say just stab at someone but there is a lot of variation on ways you can wield a knife for a fight. I'm not confident with that but I'm extremely confident wielding a bat.

My ability to make contact with a bat and with the reach it provides along with my proficiency and comfort level actually make this a pretty easy decision for me. Bat all the way.

There is a reason that the last time you did this topic everyone who had even the slightest understanding on how fights between two untrained individuals went chose back and all of the videos of trained people giving their answers universally chose bat: this isn't a cartoon, the fact that the knife is bladed means jack crap.

Swinging the bat is a finishing move, not the default mode of attacking. Jabbing, shoving, and parrying are the main techniques one should use, all of which the knife user will find difficult to counter.

If you shove, unless you have complete control over both their arms, you're getting cut or stabbed. Jabbing is the only legitimate answer here to keep your range if you want offense. Unless the knife gets stuck in the bat, parrying is way easier said than done. Every action you take with a bat is going to be slower by virtue of the weapons design. You're also significantly more likely to injure yourself using a bat versus a knife.

Playing baseball isn't using a bat in a fight with high adrenaline and unclear thoughts. You have to watch one single thing and hit it, as it travels on a relatively straight path in baseball. You're not swinging at a person who can move and feint in a variety of ways.

I think short of a good shot to the noggin, a determined person could tank a bat jab in a lot of locations. It would hurt. possibly bad and break bones, but in melee/hand to hand fighting, that may not stop the other party. If the knife user dodges, tanks, or grapples the bat user and closes in, the knife can inflict heinous damage very VERY fast. Blood loss messes a person up and can do so quickly.
