The MCU movies have just turned into trash that gets churned out to drive ticket sales.

There is nothing special about them. There's no passion behind them

Deadpool is an outlier because it gets to be an R rated Marvel movie. Honestly if they released more R rated movies I'd probably hit the theater to see them.

I enjoyed Guardians 1 a lot more then 2 or 3 but I suppose they were fine. James Gunn left Marvel though, obviously he doesn't care about they products they are currently releasing since he left the company.

I couldn't care less about Shang Chi, movie was incredibly boring for me.

That literally has nothing to do with what you said about "passion". Also, Deadpool 3 is the most juvenile marvel movie released in a hot minute if we're being honest.

That literally does not mean he doesn't care about the characters and world he spent a decade crafting. He didn't leave, he was fired, and in the time before he got hired back, he got hired by DC. Id this DC thing doesn't work out he'll go back to marvel.

Ed Brubaker has trouble with his mortgage while Kevin Feige rakes in billions for the studio adapting Winter Soldier. Jim Starlin got paid more for a minor KGBeast cameo than for the entire Infinity Gauntlet being adapted.

I heard test screenings weren't going well, so I've decided to just wait til it's on Disney+.

That's a legitimate conversation to have, but there *are* contracts regarding royalties for both marvel snd DC. We don't know the minutes but if you create a character and it gets adapted then you do get a payout.

Beyond that they have stuff for special cases, like Bill Mantlo, who is disabled, apparently was given enough money for his family to get a house.

Yeah, Marvel and DC have both been pretty terrible to creators over the years. Usually the creators are WFH and don't have much bargaining power over these. Some have power to grant themselves more, but it's pretty rare. A lot of creators have basically said they got a couple grand and a free movie ticket, which seems kind of shitty when their work makes the studios billions.

Most times, they hang out older creators or disabled creators out to dry. The creator push is a big reason why Image and Valiant formed (not without their own issues), and plenty of writers and artists have been cast aside with no support. They do deserve a lot of credit for the deal with the Mantlo family, but that was a highly publicized incident due to a hit and run

I have no idea WTF y'all are arguing about for this to reach 6 whole ass pages, but the audience loves it compared to critics. Kind of expected that lol. 80% audience score

But we can trust critic scores? The only part I trusted was one of the critics saying that the movie played it very safe and non offensive, which I can totally see Disney doing. Definitely plan on seeing the movie though

People who are determined to shit on something will freely switch between "You can't trust critics, listen to the audience" and "You can't trust the audience, listen to critics" as needed.

You can't trust either. Just watch what looks interesting and stop being so afraid you will like something others don't.

Both critic and audience scores can be useful tools but that's it. Critics are fart sniffers who don't like unsophisticated movies and audiences are glue sniffers who love dumb shit. Use them accordingly.

I feel like you missed the point of what I'm saying completely.

I liked it, I didn't love it. They are leading to bigger things so I understand that. I just really wanted to love it!

I didn't hate it but it just felt like a non-movie. It was over and I was like "that's it?"

So if we're not going by review scores anymore we'll go by box office sales right? Which one fits the narrative we want?

The film "The Night of the Hunter" was planned by critics and ignored by audiences.

Its now considered one of the greatest films of all time.

Oh I agree. I just hope the people who uses review scores to validate their bias understands this.

Took my sons yesterday. It was really dumb, but it was a fun kind of dumb. Don't fault anyone for not liking it, but I'd give it at least a C+. Pretty forgettable, but fun for a single watch.

Admittedly though, a waste of Giancarlo Esposito (whoops, in baseball mode). He should've at least been the big bad of a film, not an ancillary bad guy.

Giancarlo Esposito was added in reshoots, so that's why he feels that way.

Saw it last night. I Really enjoyed it.

Comparing it to recent MCU Flops I don't remotely understand how this one is getting such negative press.
