My local Walmart's didn't have any copies, so probably won't be able to pick up a copy until Saturday, when I'll have the time to go to the nearest GameStop (2 hours away. Rural areas suck).

My Walmart says in store pick up so I'm heading over shortly.

Fuck it, called out of work today. More Xenoblade! Played for a few hours last night and am having a blast. I really do appreciate not needing field skills to open most of the treasures found on the map

I was hoping to make this topic but didn't want to make it early and figured by the time I got off work someone else would have.

I bought a copy from GameStop and the manager even gave me the pre-order bonus even though I didn't pre-order it, so that's nice. I unfortunately won't be getting a lot of time to play it because my work is offering overtime this and next Saturday. I'm really excited to start it up tonight, though.

Edit: I also tried Walmart and Best Buy before going to GameStop and neither of those places had copies, either. Which I'm hoping means that the game just flew off the shelves and more people are exposed to it.

What's the pre-order bonus?

I dunno if it's available in-game, but there are tons of better looking weapons and armors you can buy or hunt.

Assuming you got the DLC?

You can get your items by visiting the Customization Center in the BLADE Barracks after Chapter 3.

Of course this depends on if you actually registered the DLC. I got from GameStop and they gave me a card with the code. I don't know about other stores, I imagine on the eShop it would be automatically added?

Everything feels so fresh again, and loving what little I've seen of the new UI is great.

Spent hundreds of hours as female at the start of the og, so starting male this time with the warrior voice I never used. Will switch when I get to the quest.

Yeah, the combat was a pain in the Wii U version because there were no in-game explanations on how everything worked, so a new QoL change actually has explanations. Also yes, Elma is a great character.

From what I can remember from the Wii U version, there are at least quest lines that you can make wrong choices that lock you out from ever completing the quest line. For example, the one that I remember that has always bothered me in failing is helping a girl ask out a guy. She wants you to gather certain items and at one point asks you which item you think the guy would like. I chose the more rare item, but it turns out the guy didn't like them, so that's as far as I was able to get and the two never connected.

It's available until a certain date, don't recall what. It's not explicitly a pre-order bonus.

Ah yeah, I thought about giving you some combat pointers before you started lol. But I'm guessing you've got the gist of it now after watching that video?

It's MMO inspired, so there's a focus on positioning when using your arts. Like some arts have added bonuses depending on if you're on the side of, or behind the target. It also helps to wait for your teammates to call out for a specific attack type as it boosts your affinity with them

They added something surprising on that customization terminal, tbh.

Beat Metal Bringer so I'll get started on XBCX in a bit.

Lot of mech games came out in rapid succession. >.>

The combat isn't too crazy honestly but I guess I also had like 60 hours in the be Wii U one (I didn't get the skell I was just loving exploring). People call stuff out, your bar gets highlighted with the color it corresponds to, you use the art and then the AI combos it.

Look for the blue exclamation point and the colors highlighting on your action bar and you're basically good lol

I wouldn't think of it as a mech game, it's a FF12 esque combat system of cool downs and auto attack

I was more referring to it featuring mechs prominently, not that it was a game all about mechs.

Oh then just tell me to shut the hell up lol. I also own it on the Wii U and loved it 10 years ago. Never beat it, so I'm very excited to do so now along with the extra story. I remember the Wii U one looking like it had a nice smear of vaseline on it so this one is a damn breath of fresh air.

i wonder if it undid any of the censorship the US version of the original did namely removing the bust slider in chara creation (don't get that 1) and making the clothes/armor of the loli tank girl less skimpy (understandable)

Step 1 Activate Ghost Walker
Step 2 Become Invincible

That's basically it

I was so bad at the combat in this game, I hope I understand it better this time around. I never could beat the game. I got to one of the final phases of the last boss where you're forced out of your Skell to do combat and I was just so weak and confused (yes, even by that point in the game) that I just kind of gave up. I couldn't even fight any of the super bosses.

It's fine.

And I beat it back then. X, despite having a pretty trash story, just has such a good sense of exploration that I kind of felt obligated to try it again. While I would disagree with the bashing of the visuals (it looked pretty great for the time it came out minus the resolution, imo) it definitely looks stellar here.

Ye, this game is pretty massive. Definitely try to not use a guide when you get to the end as some of the final stuffs are pretty fun to find on your own.
