Personally, for me it's:
  • The feeling of wet peanut butter
  • Wearing synthetic materials then being a fire and having my clothes melt to my flesh
  • Putting my phone on my night stand and having the lithium battery in it explode right next to my face as I sleep
  • Injury to or loss of teeth and/or fingernails
  • Jellyfish
(no particular order)

I don't have it anymore, but: airplanes flying directly overhead. I'd have to hide under something (usually eaves of a house) to break the plane of sight as it flew overhead.

We lived just a mile from an airport so it was fairly common.

I don't like walking on ice at all... or thin snow, since there could be ice under it. This stems from a greater phobia of self-injury, which I guess isn't an actual phobia just good sense if not a masochist.

Makeup, which I am certain is derivative of clowns. Maybe not so much a fear as a disgust. I've had to clean up lipstick-smeared bottles from coworkers and it makes me gag. Maybe you could say I have a fear of it getting on me. Because I definitely had that one as a child.

I tell people I don't find makeup on women attractive and they don't believe me. I can tolerate it to an extent because I have to, but the less the better.

Yeah, I wouldn't really call "not wanting to die" a weird phobia. Stuff like fear of heights, fear of poisonous animals, fear of drowning, and so on are all pretty justified. Even stuff like fear of the dark makes sense, because on that deep subconscious level what you're really afraid of is the stuff in the dark that might hurt you that you can't see coming.

So fear of ice doesn't seem that weird, since what you're really afraid of is falling through or slipping on it and hurting yourself.

Now, if you were afraid of the ice cubes in your refrigerator or panicked whenever you saw an iceberg on TV, that would be pretty weird.

* Wearing synthetic materials then being a fire and having my clothes melt to my flesh

My mom always used to be paranoid about wearing polyester, and that was definitely part of it.

Though in her case, it was also the fact that she had sensitive skin, and she always thought that artificial fibers tended to irritate her skin more than stuff that was 100% cotton.

Flappers posted...
* Injury to or loss of teeth and/or fingernails

Never had this as a fear, but I did used to have dreams a lot of my teeth falling out. Usually it would be a sort of thing where I'd feel like a tooth was a little loose, and I'd reach into my mouth and wiggle it, and it would just sort of pop out, and then I'd look at it and it would usually be all brown and rotten looking, and then I'd sort of try to push it back into the socket as if I could somehow save it as long as I could get it back in its place. Then I'd wake up and just feel sort of squicky about the whole thing.

Which is weird, because I've literally never had anything like that happen to my actual teeth. So I'm not sure why my brain used to be so fixated on it (I haven't had one of those types of dreams for a while, thankfully). The only theory I could come up with was maybe I was grinding my teeth in my sleep and my brain was getting weird signals from it and trying to fit that into my dreams.

Did you have one of those stereotypical old aunts or grandmothers that were utterly caked in lipstick and makeup to the point where they looked ghoulish who used to chase you around as a kid trying to kiss you? Because I could see that sort of trauma leading to makeup becoming a trigger.

Not so much as that, but I did have adult women try to kiss me and joke that they'd get lipstick on me and I already hated clowns for obvious reasons, so yeah, it did terrify me as a child. I hated the idea of having my face painted for Halloween or whatever, too.

I stopped at a hotel last year and my room was on ground floor and I was actually pretty nervous about it for this reason, lol. My window was facing the front parking lot, too so everyone was coming and going and I had to quintuple check the blinds to be sure they were fully closed.

I wouldn't call it weird, but my only phobia is submergophobia, which is the intense fear of being submerged underwater. Technically, it only affects the nose and eyes. I just don't want any water in them. Unlike hydrophobia, it's easily manageable because it doesn't prevent me from being close to bodies of water. I even enjoy swimming. I can also take a shower or be under heavy rain, but I won't look up. In other words, having water trickle down my face is fine, but having my face splashed by water is panic inducing. I can also get eye drops just fine. Any other fear I have are normal and not considered phobias.

I share the same disgust for makeup, but I don't have a fear of clowns. I just find that shit ugly, gross, and stupid. It accelerates aging, damages the skin, and causes self-esteem issues, among other issues.

I tell people I don't find makeup on women attractive and they don't believe me. I can tolerate it to an extent because I have to, but the less the better.
They don't believe you? I don't have any problem making people believe me when I tell them the same thing. The worse I had were people arguing with me, either looking to justify themselves for liking it or trying to convince me otherwise. Maybe you say it too kindly? Start thinking out loud whenever you see a "hot" woman on TV or advertisements. Make sure you physically demonstrate your disgust and don't mince your words.

Ugh I HATE makeup! Some people just slather themselves in it! And spending hours on it in the morning! Forget about it.

Even a little bit makes me cringe. The thought of having any that stuff on your skin is just so gross to me. I've seen prank videos where a person driving break-checks and the person in the back seat hits their face on the back of the driver's seat. There was this one girl who looked like her face got left there with it! You could see her foundation, her blush, her lipstick, and even her false eyelashes. Disgusting! Think about how weird the texture of their skin must look up close, or how weird it feels to touch them. And what about when they sweat? Absolutely disgusting!
Couldn't agree more.

Don't even get me started on when millennials had that orange face and butthole lip thing going on. There's even those two girls on youtube who make fun of how bad it looked!

Mostly just heights, which isn't that weird. Specifically, open heights or heights where the railing is lower than my centre of gravity (which is a lot of railings when you're as lanky as I am). If leaning far enough to fall is a possibility, I get very uneasy. Closed heights are fine, though, like I have no issues looking through a window, a full-height fence, or over a cliff whose edge is a short walk away.

It feels all weird when you try to clean it with water too. Like the water is combating with the stickiness of it. I just use a dry napkin to wipe it off then go from there. My family thinks I'm crazy.

It's definitely slimy and gross when you get it wet. I don't understand how anyone could be fine with it. Why would you want peanut butter flotsam in your dish water?

I used to be bothered by needles, but jabbing myself in the thigh once a week with sweet, sweet estradiol took care of that to a great extent. The nurse who talked me through my first injection was even a trans woman herself, so that felt...perfect.

I am terrified of roller coasters and any ride that rocks back and forth.

Nothing I'd call a phobia as such, but when I was younger, I was afraid of spiders, wasps/bees, heights, and needles, but not as much these days. Occasionally, I'll get freaked out if I notice I'm up high or see a bee/wasp, but for the most part, I can manage it.

Having a seizure in a weird place. I'm epileptic so that should be rational but I've only had a half dozen in my life, yet anytime I fly, or take a ski lift, or am close to an edge, or am driving on the highway, I'm prone to panic attacks.

I worked with someone who had a seizure while driving and flipped his car. He was fine, but he obviously couldn't drive for six months after that.

Kinda this. I don't have any fears/phobias, but while I'm fine with needles, I don't like having my blood drawn. Mostly due some bad experiences as a kid/young teen where I was pretty sick with just a flu or whatever, but bad enough and long enough that my mom took me in, and they drew a ton of blood for tests. Nurses always have a hard time hitting my veins, so on top of churning around in my arm to find the vein, the amount of blood drawn while I was already very weak and ill caused me to pass out, twice. Only time I ever have.

These days, I'm fine with it, especially since fast-draw blood techniques make it pretty quick and easy, but it made me dread and feel sqeamish most of my life. I could/can "feel" the blood leave my body, which just feels uncomfortable. But I wouldn't call it a phobia, then or now.
