I got a PS5 a bit over a week ago, despite my existing backlog and the impending--and now-released--Xenoblade X DE. The last Playstation console I owned was the PS3.

I mainly like Action games, JRPGs, Platformers, and Fighting games (even if I'm not that good at them beyond a lower-intermediate level).

Currently own:

Games Already on My Radar:
-Sonic Frontiers

Games I have on Switch but haven't played, but may get again on PS5 for a smoother gameplay experience:
-Nier: Automata
-Persona 5 Strikers
-No More Heroes III

god of war 4 and 5
bloodborne
uncharted collection + 4 & lost legacy
the 3 spider-man games (miles morales in particular is the best one by far imo)

Mass Effect Legendary Edition
TlOU 1+2 ( I'd consider them horror/action >_>)
HFW- though that's probably depends on if end up liking the first one

I heard it's delisted, but if you can find a physical copy, LittleBigPlanet 3 looks good.

I liked the second one.

if you haven't played the original, there's the Shadow of the Colossus remake.

the Marvel Spider-Man games.

I think legend of dragoon may be on digital there
its an old game but a great one

baldur's gate is unplayable on controller imo

i tried it on steam deck while traveling and it was a nightmare

i guess if it's all you know tho it wouldnt be an issue

If you might be interested in a good tactical jrpg, Unicorn Overlord is pretty great.

Thanks for the suggestions. Some of these are from series I'm not particularly into, but I do see some that are definitely worth a look to me.

I second the suggestions for Rachet & Clank, and the Spider-Man games.

And assuming you haven't had a gaming PC between the PS3 and the PS5, I'd also add:

Oh and I guess since you mentioned JRPGs, You could start up the Trails series if you don't mind jumping down a rabbit hole.

Sonic x Shadow Generations. If you already have Sonic Generations on another platform, it's still worth buying just for Shadow Generations.

In the arpg department, Witch and the Hundred Knight is one of my favorite ps4 games. Really dark twisted humor but great story.

You should try MGSV. It's gameplay has yet to be surpassed.

In this case, drop everything and go play FF7 Remake/Rebirth.

If you haven't played FF7 uh... you should first but to catch up you really would only need to play through the end of Disc 1 (takes ~20-25 hours)

Final Fantasy XVI is a good, but lacking, game, that I'd definitely recommend if you could find it on sale.

I didn't see it mentioned so I'm going to chime in with Dead Space remake. This was the first PS5 game I got and I thoroughly enjoyed it. I haven't played any DS games before (which is weird, they seem right up my alley) so familiarity with the franchise isn't necessary.

sorry, I just watched the video a little while ago, and the narrator literally talked about wokeness, politics, and DEI in relation to Dragon Age: The Veilguard, without any kind of irony.

he still recommended the game, though.
