Which should I watch? I've seen both.

Django Unchained, IMO.

I didn't like Hateful Eight, but tbf, the person I watched it with clearly hated it and their negative energy probably affected my enjoyment.

I'll probably give it another chance one day.

Hateful Eight is the best Tarantino movie period

Quentin either makes a movie that is one of my favorites or one I dont care for. Usually its a big hit to me. Also Im a massive western fan and had high hopes for Hateful Eight but I simply dont care for it. Meanwhile I think Django is excellent. Not even close to me. Django easily.

Pulp Fiction will always be my #1 though. Hateful Eight seems to have a lot of fans though and I find myself in the minority. I thought his follow up Once Upon a Time in Hollywood was WAY better and yet that is the one that seems to be one of his least liked. I thought it was great.

I've only seen Hateful 8 once and it's good, although can drag. Django is one of my favs though, so rewatchable. Almost every scene is memorable and the characters are so good.

I enjoyed Django Unchained a little more overall, but I think The Hateful Eight is very underrated with all the dislike/hate it gets by a lot of people. Both are absolutely fantastic films that are top tier Tarantino movies for sure.

Hateful Eight is pure Tarantino masturbation, right down to the 70mm theatrical release to make you feel excluded if you couldn't watch it.

I don't think either one is great but Django holds up a lot better under scrutiny

Hateful 8 is a lot less interesting on repeats since its very reliant on a twist. Once you know the twist, it most of its appeal. The twist isnt well-made. Most the clues are people saying that they knew something from before the film even started. Thats just cheating

Hateful Eight really just comes off as a repeat of Reservoir Dogs to me.

Hateful 8 is like an amazing theater performance, but like theater performances it kinda loses a little bit on subsequent viewings. There is a lot of tension and pressure throughout with it being pretty much confined to one location, and the brilliance of it is predicated on that one location and the escalation of tension as things continue to heat up.

Django takes more advantage of it being a film and I think holds up more strongly to repeat viewing.

If you were asking about which one you should watch for the first time, I'd vote Hateful 8. But since this is a rewatch, I feel you get more from Django.

Hateful 8 is basically just Tarantino Tarantino-ing. Django was good not great. And I confused Django with Rango and thats why I didnt understand why people were raving about it

Mostly that it leans heavily into dialogue and big monologues, which is what Tarantino is good at. Of course, all his films do that to some degree, but I feel that this film does it better than the others.

^yeah, that's about all i got from it. I just didn't find it very entertaining. Doesn't help that the only thing i remember is Sam Jackson retelling how that guys son died gobbling his Johnson.

I loved Hateful 8 until Tarantino just said "okay, you've had an interesting movie long enough, here's a bunch of violence and action!" and it just ruined the whole thing.

Django is much better as a result.

Django Unchained. I liked Hateful 8 but I don't have a strong impulse to rewatch it, which is uncommon for a Tarantino film.

I agree a lot with post 21. I was really enjoying the movie til the 20 minute flashback and everything after. Just found it became a bit typical Tarantino I guess. Like, wasn't doing anything new

Hateful Eight.

Django is good but probably my least favorite Tarantino movie. Its far too long and could have been made into 2 films, like Kill Bill did
