It'd be one thing if their games actually decreased in price but I just don't want to spend 80 bucks a pop on video games

Mario Kart World will sell great even at $80.

Obviously that's not true for every game though. It seems like on the original Switch there wasn't really a "standard" price and with Switch 2 there's probably going to be even more variability in launch prices for games.

Yeah, it looks like it will go between both.

Big titles like Mario Kart and the next Zelda game will be $80.
Everything else will be $70.

The rise in games has been coming for awhile. I got suckered by some Sega games but not suckered enough to go full in on a ultimate digital pointless edition.

There's a new Donkey Kong? Hah I don't follow any of this live, but I was aware Nintendo was gearing up for something.

Yeah this is the thing people don't realize either. Unlike the $70 increase with Sony and MS and third party games, Nintendo games rarely go on any meaningful sale. Right now, the best sales you typically see are from $60 to $42. Maybe a bit lower. But you will not be able to save money waiting for sales because if they are $80, I could see them going down to maybe $60 which is the cost of what used to be a typical game.

Couple in this game key stuff where you are literally paying $10 more for physical without anything on the card, and we've hit Nintendo in arrogant Sony era.

Yeah. A big budget title from the Odyssey Team is 70$. Its clear 80$ is the exception not the rule.

I'm expecting big games to be 70$ and Mega event huge budget games like 3D Zelda, and Smash to be 80$.

Mid size games will be 60$ and small games will be 50-60$ with a few outliers being 35-40$

To Chaos Knight I remember buying Mario Kart 8 for the Wii U for 52 usd physically at Best Buy and I felt lucky to see that. Nintendo never reduces the prices of their old games unless they print more of their own.

At least for an example. While Sega/Atlus/RGG is selling a lot of their games now for 69.99. There are some flash sales and ya wait a month the price will drop sometimes considerably.

I am more a digital guy now. I got Persona 3 Reload on a flash sale at Best Buy physically for 44 a month after it came out. Even digitally though I feel like Nintendo doesn't like to reduce their prices for even old games heh.

This wasn't meant to be a hit piece on Nintendo.

Reminds me on how I got persona 5 royal PS5 version steelbook for 25 dollars like 3 weeks after it came out because of a fall sale.

My sonic x shadow generations was similar in that it was a real good black friday sale a few weeks after it released. Sega does treat you right with their sales I give them that.

Nintendo doesn't work that way, but as I stated with Sega they do. I am waiting for Metaphor Fantazio to go even cheaper online I guess. The lowest I saw it was still in the 50 range.

Also I am sure there are cheaper physical copies online. I don't need to play it that bad though.

I like Angry Joe alright, I don't watch any of his movie reviews or news or uhhh most of his content, but I'll generally watch his Angry Reviews still because they can be amusing and I think he can make some good points.

Selling consoles at a loss was a good gameplan once. The 3D0 and Playstation 3 took different approaches. Okay I'll get back on track, but usually it was the accessories that could be over priced. I got all this cheap 3rd party wii accessories for my Wii U. They worked fine. Anyhow uhh. I still don't know all the specs, but did you read that this board had 30 topics about the Switch 2 earlier? The communities are talking.

I am not happy with this post. I just yeah 90 for Switch 2 games, in Canada I suppose lol. Damn.

I'll probably just pass on the switch 2 honestly. Not my fault game corps can't manage budgets, they can pass the cost to some other suckers. I have yet to see a single fucking AAA title worth the price jump to 70, and no offense to Nintendo, but I'm goddamn positive they have nothing worth 80 or 90 since I've no loyalty to their fictional character cast.

It's especially bad for Nintendo to be pulling this shit, because they fundamentally just do not believe that their games lose value over time. It's infuriating.

tbf, for Kirby and Jamboree that's because it has the extra content which is basically DLC in addition to the base game. BoTW and DK is $70. Bravely Default is actually $40.
ToTK is still 70 though.

They are that price because its Nintendo 1st party titles. Nintendo cannot set the prices of 3rd party games which is why most of them usually are reasonable. Note I said most. GTA 6 is going to be exception.

It never comes from Nintendo. A couple weeks ago was Mario day and the price of Breath of the Wild with a discount on their website was more expensive than you could buy brand new from Walmart. Yet its supposed to be a "discount".

Pretty much the same for me (gaming laptop and Xbox One). There was a point where I almost considered getting a Switch for the Mario games and Animal Crossing. Though it's not quite worth it without better game sales (compared to the value of what you can get on something like Steam).
