I wouldn't say disaster, but the prices have taken a lot of the shine away from the announcements.

for the having to pay for Switch 2 game upgrades, I don't necessarily mind, depending on their quality/what they add, since PS5 & XS already set that precedent.

but only if it's about $10, at most, if you already have the original, and it's a clear improvement.

Basically all the price-things are terrible though, and I kind of hope we get a slow release and into a "soon after release price drop" like they did with the 3DS. I don't even need an equivalent to the "Ambassador program", just don't ask me spend the same on the Nintendo console I'm being asked to spend on a PS5.

Yeah, if the upgrades add new content, then I can understand having to pay for them. There are also free upgrades as well which are just performance patches for the Switch 2.

The pricing of everything is bad. I still believe the system itself should be no more than $400. And I would totally be fine if the games were the now standard $70.

But I have seen a lot of misinformation being spread across the internet.

Also, people keep saying physical games will be $90. This is also not true. I think this comes from the UK showing the physical version at 90 euro which basically includes taxes already.

Well, that is a negative but for fans of F-Zero which had a game a new game couple years ago: F-Zero 99 but with the ngc addition to the NSO Expansion pack, people now have access to GX.

It wasn't a disaster. The presentation itself was good. It's all the stuff post-presentation we learned that really killed the hype.

How the F do you expect people to buy games at $80.

The reveal wasn't, but there's a reason why they didn't slap a price tag in the direct or say that Street Fighter 6 would just be a digital key.

This is how I felt. The Direct was fine, but pretty uninspiring. It did not give much reason to run out and throw down money in June if you already have a Switch.

I still think over time it will sell a lot.

The price is around exactly where I expected. Mario Kart, Donkey Kong, and Hyrule Warriors all look great. Big variety of third party games at launch. Free upgrades for a lot of Switch games (links awakening, chug free!).

I wish we got Doshin the Giant for GameCube Classics though. Three games is paltry.

GameChat is hilarious. Dead on Arrival. Nintendo exclusive discord with a Wii Speak ass microphone. Who is going to use this. It's a cute idea but come on. I also can't imagine why when playing a multiplayer game online I'd want to see my friend's screens constantly? Novel, but why would I practically want to dedicate screenspace to it?

Switch 2 Welcome Land or whatever it's called being a paid game is absolutely baffling.

The reveal was pretty good, but I'm totally priced out of the system.

Pricing for games is a big bummer, but I still liked what I saw in terms of upgraded switch games and the GCN NSO update.

I mean its just going to by my Nintendo game player so it is what it is.

Ill put everything else on my PC and Steamdeck.

Console price is fine, game price is killer.

I'd say it was pretty mid. Too much focus on features that nobody will actually use and not enough new exclusive games.

I knew I was buying a S2. So: Been putting $10-50 away every paycheck in a specific play money account for a bit. Got $450 saved up for it so Im good to go. The pricey games are rough though. But I usually buy them used or long after release anyway.

Either that or wait to see if gamestop has a promotional deal going for old console trade-ins.

I know gamestop gets a lot of flak but they do still have legitimate good deals when it comes to trading in consoles towards a newer revision or release. The PS5 pro promotion was like 410 dollars for a old PS5 disc version during the first 3 weeks after the PS5 pro was first announced that september, and even now you get like 330 dollars as a pro member or 300 without the pro membership for a PS5 trade in.

They'll most likely do something similar for the switch.

I'm probably one of the few who thinks that while the game price is indeed very dumb, the console price is an even bigger problem. It's already a bit over the edge for me lol. And there's no point for me in worrying about the increased game price if right now I can't even buy the console to begin with.

I'll probably gonna wait until they release a cheaper Lite version a few years in the future, before I can start trying Switch 2 games. If there's even a Lite version.
(A cheaper Lite version would also sorta lessen the sting on the increased game price, but again, that's only if there is a Lite version.....)

Meanwhile, PS5 and Steam Deck both have excellent tech demos that are free

System price is fine. Donkey Kong Bananza price is fine. Mario Kart World price is too high.

For consoles the launch price really should be whatever the average scalper price would be and then it should drop over time.

I won't say disaster because the xbone set that standard and this isn't near as bad. But with Nintendo tax going up I'm simply not interested in paying that much for a game already a generation behind power wise.

I'm disappointed they didn't reveal more about the Nvidia SOC in the machine. I'm suspecting that it's more anemic than the Steam Deck's and only achieves high resolutions using upscaling. Not that I am against that, but I wish it were mentioned up-front.

It's debatable if Switch 1 is current gen, but last gen it was hybrid. Most of the games was on the discs. You had some where what you described is true but you also had some where you had a full disc but a day 1 update thats another full size again. I wont be buying a Switch 2 because I'm not a fan of the Game Keys. My XB1 is 10y and I really need to upgrade. It will be the first priority.

What did people expect? What would have actually made them happy? My biggest gripe is with the game cards. We don't have physical media anymore. We rent what we buy now. That is the part that I am really struggling to accept. On the other hand, pretty much all the games I have on my current systems are digital. It is way easier and less cluttered than having all the games and boxes. I also hate having to physically switch out my games to play them.

The price doesn't bother me because I expected higher honestly. It's not good, but I budgeted for it

They announced Kirby Air Ride 2 and I want nothing more, so I left very content

The pricing seems terrible.

It was an amazing direct. Good specs and an excellent launch line-up. Obviously the pricing is a sour soot but it'd be ridicolous to discount the whole show over it.

The game card thing isn't even true, and while making the controller manual a paid game is quite dumb, does anyone actually care? No one will buy it and everyone will forget about it.
