also find it hilarious when people suggest that the Stones were more creative than the Beatles. I mean, you're free to prefer them but...really? The Stones are nearly entirely straight blues. The Beatles touch on a rather larger spread of genres and styles even if a lot of it is also straight blues.

None of what I hear wowed me enough to look deeper. I respect their legacy as an insanely influential group, but it didn't click with me yet if it ever will

I'm not really sure how they're still relevant. I don't know a single person that listens to the Beatles. I've been to a bunch of gatherings, parties, etc and never hear them mentioned. Yet somehow they're still this cultural phenomenon. I bet you could ask 1000 people on the street to name 5 songs of theirs and nobody would be able to

Perhaps we simply have different taste, as I also find Pink Floyd extremely boring after their first album. I think his songs with the Beatles are some of their best songs. George after the Beatles had hits like My Sweet Lord, Isn't It a Pity and What is Life, which I consider far less exciting than Sometimes, I Me Mine and Savoy Truffle. Sorry, I think All Things Must Pass is an absolute slog with a few standout tracks. There's far less sonic variation which makes it a lot less interesting to me.

I know the sway they have in music, but were way before my time to say their music touched me.

Ironically, I used to say the same thing about Marilyn Monroe, but only recently do I realize that woman was something special (don't watch Turner classic movies, I'm warning you).

There are people all over the world who are inspired by others and do things similar to them not because they are "stealing" but because that watching them is how they developed their style

For example so many people started watching and making gaming videos because of AVGN

I do. I know at least a couple people in their 40s who are into them.

I don't think any of them would say they were their favorite band, but they still like them.

It might be pertinent to mention that at least one of those people is also a huge Frank Sinatra fan, while another is a huge Eagles fan.

Hell they could release a album of some BS missing songs and still pull in 3 million in album sales.

Nobody? How long ago do you think the Beatles were? At least half would be able to shoot out songs

Beatles aren't like a band you hear at the bar. Guarantee if you ask 100 random people on the street you might get like 3 that could name more than a couple songs

Thats the radio stations fault. The Beatles have so much music that would be good in bars or restaurants in multiple genres as well.

That might be a stretch. Millennials and Zoomers tend to be extremely unaware of pop culture that existed before 2000 or so (give or take). If you're talking to people under 40, I think you'd find a lot of people who are aware of who the Beatles are, but who would have trouble naming more than one song, if that. The younger you go, the less likely you are to find people who know anything significant about their catalogue.

Like i said before too, you'll hear other bands from that time period in your local diverse. Almost never Beatles though. But CCR... every time I step in a bar. Also CCR is far superior

People love CCR but people can name more Beatles trivia than CCR trivia. People probably know more about The Eagles as an older but popular band.

I was actually gonna say come together is probably the only one you might consistently here somewhere lol. also just realized my phone corrected dive bar to diverse lol

This is probably true but partially because Paul McCartney has managed to stay so relevant

And because of the assassination

might be wrong and i don't feel like looking it up to correct myself, but CCR also didn't put out even half as much content as the beatles did. makes sense people would know more about a band that existed and maintained relevance over decades over one that stuck around only for a few years. really doesn't feel like a great comparison tbh.

plus maybe it's just me but the beatles really don't feel like that great of a band to play at a bar anyway. they're more the type i'd listen to in the car or have on in the background while i'm hanging with friends or something.

90% of the time, when I hear it it's the Aerosmith cover.

Neutral. I don't actively seek them out, but they've done some classics, and I don't change the station when they come on.

I like their music.

Their music varies wildly in style, subject, etc. My oldest sister was a huge fan of them growing up, so we listened to them a lot. They were never my favorite band or anything, though I had some favorite songs.

Of their post Beatles work, I think that George's stint in the Traveling Wilburys is easily the most noteworthy. A bit baffled that people never seem to mention it.

Oh, and the movie, Across the Universe, re-contextualized "I Want You (She's So Heavy)" and made it one of my favorite songs of theirs with its new meaning. Every time I hear it all I can think about is that movie's take on it.

fair. that's another 'old' band (obviously not as old) that has maintained a lot of cultural staying power. Aerosmith, AC/DC, Fleetwood Mac....

It's because that's obviously not George Harrison. That's Nelson Wilbury!

I understand that songs sang by Ringo was originally written by George.

Like "It Don't Come Easy" and "Photograph".

But who cares as long as they sound good.
