Yes, reason has a part of the process but it is directly implied in the whole "the author has a desire to do a new perspective" line. As in, yes there is a reason beyond just simply "new perspective" but from the person who is experiencing it it is impossible to know without actually having the thing in the first place. Like, if we were to pretend that all of the stuff actively pointing out that Ciri was going to be the next MC (the ending of 3, the books, etc.) and all of the stuff that already existed that would tell us what the point of her being the MC is going to be (the books, mainly) then from the perspective of anyone who wasn't the author then it is impossible to say anything other than "the author wanted to have a new perspective" as a catch-all for any number of potentials for why there was a shift. In that line there is obviously going to be a reason from the author as to why they want the shift, but it is always impossible to know them beforehand a lot of the time. Hence why my comments are topically relevant as the whole anti-woke crowd does the grift based solely on vibes before launch, where it is impossible to actually discern any particular story beats beyond the most basic. Thus the "reason" is basically always just going to be boiled down to a base rationale: we know nothing, so the author's "only" reason is that they want to have a new perspective. And any other "reasons" end up only mattering to those that experience the narrative while paying attention with an active willingness to not just tether the series to the original MC (hence my MGS2 comment, as there were a non-trivial amount of people who didn't give Raiden anything close to a fair shake due to their unwillingness to move on from Snake).
