Prototypic 05/12/25 11:21:12 AM #9:	A few months ago at a green light where the guy in front didn't seem to be moving at all after a good 5 seconds, I gave a light tap. I don't usually bother honking in most other situations, it doesn't really accomplish much to honk once someone has already cut you off or merged recklessly, except maybe confusing everyone else you aren't honking at. --- Thus I became a madman. <cite>Prototypic posted [p:985040564] in When was t... In HS, I was with a group of friends and my brother on the way somewhere. Some guy cut us off and we did the whole thing: honk, flash lights, give the bird. The guy got off on a freeway ramp, and as he drove parallel, someone popped a rifle out of the back window and fired two shots at us. I saw the rifle and yelled at everyone to duck. I was in the back seat and got down. First bullet passed over my head and shattered the back window. Second hit the passenger front door and just missed my brothers leg. We recovered the shell from the floorboard. Nobody here needs a lecture from an old man, but my sincere advice is to not antagonize anyone while driving no matter how aggravated you feel. Not worth it. I could see him looking around for something and waited for a few seconds to see if he'd look up on his own... Instead of breaking they sped up further and started going into oncoming traffic to get beside me and try to bully me out of the turn lane when I attempted to enter at proper distance from the light. The two on the side I was on are mostly straight lanes but the right one ends at a spot and it becomes a right only turn. 99 percent of the people who drive on this road do it for work or because they live near by. There's two lights leading up to this and most people will be in the proper lane the light before which causes a little bit of a delay. You'll have a long line of traffic that will clear in one light cycle and the right lane will be mostly empty because everyone knows that lane ends. Except every so often you'll get someone who doesn't want to wait and just flies up that right lane and finds ANY gap they can to fit in. If there isn't a gap they will force themselves in and on MULTIPLE occasions I have had someone just blow through where you are supposed to turn right and end up alongside me with them on the shoulder and me in the lane. One of us has to stop and you know it won't be them. I barely avoided a collision. It was close enough that you could feel the jerk and I was only able to throw my car out of it because the road was dry. The car sped up in response to my turn signal. No honking, no braking, 20+ mi/hr over the 65 that is de facto speed limit. What if someone starts having a heart attack while driving or is being followed by a stalker or a road rager? Before cellphones, it was basically "tough luck, may God have mercy on your soul." Two cars in the right lane had already gone through the intersection. I don't honk the horn at someone when I'm mad.
