I was at an arcade in Akihabara and saw one of those little smoking rooms, and every time someone entered or left, you could smell the disgusting built-up cigarette smell wafting out. I can't imagine how miserable it must have been inside. It felt like one of the best anti-smoking campaigns ever.

Bought a pack of ciggies in kyoto because I was smashed

Discovered they dont allow it on streets there

Went to the smoking room in the hotel

Imagine a sauna but instead of hot steam it's the accumulation of decades of smoke

That

They got little food carts with the paper lanterns you can buy food and get wasted at and you're basically getting drunk in a tent. They have the same thing in South Korea too as far as I can tell.

That's something I'd like to do if I ever went to Japan. Knock back some Sapporo while eating Ramen from a Yatai cart.

Never been to one where you can't take pictures.

Not sure what this means. Damn near every place serves alcohol. Bar, restaurant, karaoke, shit just buy it from a convenience store and drink on the street.

I don't smoke, so I can't comment on that.

I was lucky. When I visited, my hotel was on top of a 7-11, so everyday I would just go down and get stuff to take back up to my room for breakfast :3

But yeah, you can eat outside. Just don't walk and eat.

You pretty much eat snacks from convenience stores outside on the spot. Walking while eating is considered rude (and also a pain due to no trash cans in sight, so you have to carry garbage around until you get home).

They also sell beer. At least during festivals, you can drink it while they're going on.

My go-to move has been a tamago sando while squatting outside of the 7/11, saying "sumimasen" under my breath to noone in particular

I have matched with some girls but I get the sense that people here are a lot more conservative (in a social sense) and want a more conventional long term relationship on average.

Also my next stay is right in the heart of kabukicho. Wish me luck.

Are you actually in Japan? I live there and almost everything you are saying is not true.

Delicious food in every 7/11 but you can't eat it outside
Yes you can. People sit out in the front with ice cream or drinks all the time.

Beautiful women everywhere but they dont wanna talk to u
Yeah they are normal people. Just like not every woman wants to talk to a random tourist back home. Why not talk to some men?

Beautiful temples but you can't take photos
Yes you can. Or do you mean posing in front of them for Instagram?

Booze is cheap af but somehow nearly every place that serves alcohol is a restaurant
You just said you went to 7-11. They have cheap drinks. You can also go to a bar. There are tons of bars. Japan is famous for toxic drinking. You are in one of the most toxic drinking cultures in the world. You can get drinks almost everywhere. Even vending machines.

Everyone smokes but the only place you can smoke is some horrible little room that smells like beelzebubs ass
That would be because nobody else wants to smell smokers. Or breathe their smoke.

Seriously. Arcade I visited had this on the same floor as either the 2D fighting games or Gundam VS machines, the only two things I'd play at any arcade. Growing up around smokers and hating it, opted to just find another arcade to chill in. Thankfully it was easy enough to do.

The smoking area near Shibuya station being absolutely packed during my visit was hilarious to me, though.

If in Osaka, head to Namba. Near there, there's an idol place with a bar, really beautiful girls there. Of course it'll be next to impossible to go out with idols, but quite a few cute girls hang out there.

Most of the cutest girls go to Hep-5 in Umeda. Trust me, the cutest and most beautiful girls are everywhere there. You can hang out in the underground food and izakaya places where you can meet people.

In Tokyo I find it slightly harder, but the obvious places are Shibuya and Shinjuku. But personally I met more people in Ueno since I used to hang out there a lot. I've just moved to Kanagawa so I've yet to really explore here.

From the sounds of things you probably like the novelty of Japan more than respecting the culture and are exactly why none of these "luxuries" are being afforded to you. I think as of late due to the horrid streamer/content creators running amok over there, many have also begun to stick up for themselves better than just laying down for self-serving Americans. But from what I hear, there's plenty doing as they please in the Japan Minecraft movie showings.

It's considered gross and bad manners to openly eat in public spaces not designated for eating. Eating while standing outside a convenience store is fine. It's also fine to walk and eat if you're at a festival or something that has food stalls everywhere. There are also a few designated "tabearuki" (walk and eat) spots that have a bunch of little places selling take-out food.

Even if you walk and eat outside of spots like these, though, nothing will happen. You won't get fined and of course you won't be arrested. You might get a few dirty looks from people, at worst.

Yeah, in line with my previous posts, I remember hearing from Dogasu (Who does those Pokmon sub/dub comparisons) that they also take drug use/possession seriously. Not merely the whole drunk driving or giving them to kids/teens, but just using or having them gets you unpersoned (Third Pikachu movie short softbanned cause the narrator had drugs).

But I have to wonder if there is any logic to victimless stuff being judgeworthy while harming or harassing others has been more of a minor concern in contrast.

Not singling them out. I figured it might be like how some people over here (US), go for easier targets to give the impression of maintaining order over one's who could be too much to approach.
