Five million would instantly and permanently fix every problem in my life. There are a lot of potential futures I'd be willing to give up for five million in my hand right now.

I have lost my grandfather, an aunt and an uncle to cancer, have two more aunts with cancer and my mother beat cancer twice.

In most of these ridiculous scenarios I often say fuck it and choose the money and go retire and live my life in peace. I just cant on this one. I have lost multiple family members to cancer and truthfully the one that hit me the hardest was one of my dogs. She died at 6 years old in the prime of her life to bone marrow cancer and it tore me up. My two dogs were my whole world for 13 years. More than any person.

So yeah Id wipe out cancer. The type of impact that would have is massive.

The only way you could choose the money is if your only knowledge of cancer is "it kills people sometimes and we can't cure it."

Statistically, were pretty likely to get cancer at some point in our lives. I think almost half of people do. So even from a selfish perspective it makes sense to choose to eradicate cancer

Emphysema kills more smokers than cancer does, assuming were specifically talking about tobacco. Heart disease is also a big one.

Preventing the scourge of cancer is worth it

Fuck cancer. If I can be the one to eradicate cancer from our world, Id do it gladly even if I dont get the five million bucks in this hypothetical scenario.

I'm poor. I am really poor, a genuine starving artist here who can't seem to finish another novel, dozens of abandoned works. It would literally be life changing money for me.

I would wake up at night forever wondering what it would have been like to take the money and be financially solvent, but I absolutely 100% would take out cancer. I've seen family, friends, dozens and dozens and more sympathetic stories of people suffering from cancer.

Even if nobody ever knows it was me, even if I never accomplish anything else in my entife life, I would have made the world a better place by being alive. Simply by choosing not to take one cash payout.

It would be worth it.

If it meant eradicating cancer, I probably would go much further than just not taking $5 million. This question should be easy for everyone but the most selfish.

A popular singing couple here announced yesterday that the guy has fully spread out lung cancer. There's nothing they can do for him. He's 32 years old.
