I will be in different rooms. I live in the SF Bay Area right next to Oakland. This isnt the main school I work for, I was just offered the job. Yes! Its really the easiest job I've ever had. 9-12, hour break, 1-3. Sitting in the back of the room, just chilling, going on gamefaqs or whatever I want really. To be honest, I follow along with the class for a free Chem review (first class is incoming juniors repeating chem). Chem was always interesting to me. The second class is regular science for Freshman who have to repeat it. Basic stuff, but not bad. And 6x40= $240 a day. Why the hell not. I think its 26 days total, so $6,240 (before taxes and child support) is not a bad salary at all for just over a month of work (including weekends). This will definitely give me money for going to see my oldest daughter in September. --- "It was so ridiculous and I have so many feelings about it." -Virtual Energies ... Copied to Clipboard!

FrozenBananas posted... 18-20 years olds teaching high school? Holy shit Glob posted... Im guessing this is in the US? I knew their school system was low quality but didnt realise it was that bad. Any time you hear something in the US is bad, assume that it's worse than what you heard. The education system is so bad and has been for such a long time that when I was in middle school, after my mom tried explaining that I have anxiety and Asperger's, they stuck me in the room with all the severely disabled kids and made me take care of them when they didn't want to. American schools do not hold any student back. I missed two years of school because of surgery and they flat-out told my mom it would be "too expensive" to hold me back. My grades were never good. Now my self-confidence is in a pit because I feel stupid and I can't do the things I want to without the knowledge that was robbed from me. Teachers in America are not allowed to decide how their classes are run. They have to follow a strict curriculum that doesn't match every kids' needs. There's no room to give a struggling student extra help. All of the students are pawns that must be moved on the board in order for the school to keep up its reputation and income. Absolutely everything is about money here, it's horrible. Education, healthcare (especially for women), housing, companies, workplaces, the people who make our food, and authority figures don't care about you. It's all about feeding their own greed. You can't trust to be helped by any of them. You have to assume that they're taking advantage of you somehow because they probably are. On top of all of that, you have to worry about school shootings (though shootings can happen anywhere at any time by anyone. even a 6 year old in America brought a gun to school and shot at his teacher). Nowhere is safe. People are tired, stressed, and struggling. This country is genuinely the worst developed (aka rich) nation in the world. I hate being here so much I have had mental breakdowns over the fact that I will probably never be able to emigrate. I was made doomed to fail at my dreams just by being born here. Sorry to trauma-dump but this shit is real and I just want you to be aware of it and the fact that a lot of us in America know it's all bullshit and we aren't happy with it either. We're just stuck here because every system is built against us. --- I call Cthulhu "daddy" ... Copied to Clipboard!
