Maybe some year itd be cool to get chip visualizers for everything its possible with (im not sure its actually possible with this one with available existences yet)

Contains some of the tonally, rhythmically, timbrally most interesting moments to me of any track in the contest. i feel stronger about this match than any in the contest (but expect 0 chance for things to go my way / update: ok what if brain expander won i have no fucking idea what can happen anymore GO HALVED) but yeah I like extremes of perception, harshness, darkness, mathematical inteigue and really everything this stands for. all while being compositionally pretty fulfilling

the exact kind of zzzv/kudo can't just noodle in a single diatonic scale melodically for anything to make sense motion that just always gets me. it feels so fittingly futuristic in this case. the weird lingering choir pad chords around like 2:17/4:35 that have nothing to do with the rest of the song tonally are really cool. feels like you are phasing between two different realities .reminds me a LOT of slipspace actually (especially the specific track that got in from that: considering the chord progression style).

it's making me think of defying gravity wicked again. this is the cyberpunk version of the wizard of oz from the perspective of the unlucky scape goat

This What a Mario World thing is a clever little bit, opening with the SMW intro and then splitting off into a new song. Kind of reminds me of those old "AI autocompletes a song" gags. 6/10

Halved halved halved makes me feel like I'm going to throw up. Not like I want to throw up, but like I'm going to. Good job? 2.5/10

There are four video game soundtracks that I consider to be holy texts, in terms of their influence on my style and preferences. Well, okay, ten, because one of them is "all of the NES Mega Man games". The other three are Pokemon TCG 2, Kirby's Dream Land 3, and this game. Shit kicks ass. I love the weird trash can groove so, so much. 9.5/10

Warning Call is uh, a perfectly fine pop song 5/10

Ten Hours was a really pleasant surprise. It's simple but well constructed and I enjoyed it a lot 7.5/10

The most uncanny thing about Happy Hour, the thing I can't stop listening to, is how much the voice at the song fucking sounds like Wario from WL4. How the fuck did they do that! This song really makes me want to play this game although I think the guitar veers a little too much into Mega Man X crunchiness 8/10

well that sure was a match. i feel like para's writeup for halved also conveys my emotions well too, with the exception that i'd rate it 5.5 points higher lol
i'm glad we're getting ample opportunities to cover exactly why pso1 music STILL kinda has the edge on pso2 despite every strength going for the latter. also WARNING CALL here the upload for warning call is region locked (everywhere outside of america is blocked lmao) so i had to find a separate one https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fB4gjiMVKFI (good song btw)
quantity > quality (sorry i just simp watson there isn't really much else to say here. i hope we can get other irisu in in the future, seeing as i've basically satisfied my desires everywhere else across his discography now as far as vgmc attempts go. oh yeah and i'm glad antonblast managed to somewhat avoid the fate of being written off as a pizza tower ripoff, it's fun)

Unexpected vote on match 2. Im not feeling Warning Call today. The instrumentations repetitive, not as inspiring as it should be for what the songs about. The sound effects help though: the 0:25-0:28 one adds much-needed quirkiness throughout, and the screechy ones from 3:02-3:22 fit the mood surprisingly well. Also I still like the vocals, obviously.

The fakeout intro is brilliant. It really takes you on a fun journey that you just don't expect. And God if it isn't groovy. Out of every song in the contest, this is one of the ones I find myself humming a LOT to myself.

Wtf you mean its opponent is frums we are cooked bros. Scary heartbeat sounds and weird sounds (idk why I can imagine those weird sounds used in Deltarune my brain cannot process anything else besides Deltarune rn lmao) until this horrible wall of noise and chaos just slams into you. I wish I understood why the weird frums noises and chaos works for me but I find a lot of other rhythm music that tries to be noise obnoxious. Maybe it's because I feel like frums is more effective as a storyteller to me. Also sorry I keep talking about them and ignoring Hundotte I don't think I'm familiar with this artist and their style but they pair with frums well.

I love the classic PSO music for being appropriately sci-fi. It's cool that I can just tell this is Sega music by the composition at times, even though this sounds very dense and spacey compared to like Sonic the Hedgehog or whatever. And yeah they "trash can beat" fucks a lot too.

I like the parts of this song that feel like video game music. I think that's part of why this appeals to me more than some of the other vocal songs in this contest it feels like it could be a video game thing, but it also feels like it could show up on the radio too. I'm not even against vgm that doesn't sound like vgm, but I like being able to imagine the video game scenarios play out as I listen.

Ten Hours has an incredible vibe, its so stunningly specific in what it achieves. Being home alone, overcome by extreme depression or boredom, light rainfall outside, and you're staring at your ceiling. You don't even bother to turn on the light when it starts to get dark.

Yeah but I'm sorry I can't argue against this shit that knocks your teeth out. Hurry Up! will always be my goat, my crowning achievement in this genre, but I like how each song I find that seems to ape off WL4 has a different thing going for it. This is the protagonist at his strongest and most triumphant. And OMG time motifs more like yum yum yum get in my tummy.

what a mario world title is phenomenal, ALBEIT it definitely listens like a "lower quality snes cover of a song" than a song actually made for snes.... which may just be my mind being poisoned by hearing th ejohn joy tay covers of what a mario world stuff so much lol (ironic that there isn't a cover of title wow) fun little song but good GOD is halved^3 a ride. if there was a single song in the bracket I'd give the crown of most polarizing to, it's this. and it's not close. but I love that for it I'm so glad this got in even though it will die here almost certainly lolol

crater is cool but I don't have much thoughts on it at all tbh. meanwhile Warning Call is a song I will always stand by as a banger, easy for me to take it here :>

I think unfortunately 10 Hours is not my preferred Irisu song (its behind 1 USAGI Note and 2 No Reception) but it's still a very nice song so that's just a testament to how good Irisu's soundtrack is! oh wait uhhh Snow and Children is actually my favorite song but I guess you could argue it's in Irisu but not from Irisu iirc lol anywho i'm getting a little tired of the Hurry Up! pastiche honestly lol but then this song wins me back with aggressive panning that makes my brain neurons fire so HELL YEAH GO HAPPY HOUR
