The House and the Senate passed different versions of the bill. So that means leadership in the House and Senate have to negotiate to come up with one bill that reconciles the two versions. Then that version gets voted on in both chambers and if it passes in both it goes to the president.

There's a small chance that they fail to agree on a bill that can pass in both chambers. If this happens it'll probably fail in the House since Republicans have such a slim majority there. But it's probably going to pass. Republicans who don't fall in line face the prospect of Trump trashing them on social media and turning the MAGA cult against them.

Add a rider like "this bill also makes it illegal to fuck goats" and just keep amending it so that it's eternally sent back and forth between the two chambers

When things affect them more. If tariffs stay around for 3-5 months. If ICE stuff gets even worse.

Too many people right now are refusing to even consider protests more than once a month.

I strongly suggest....tell everyone you know, especially people that ignore politics. Join a 50501 group (and the 50501 subreddit is full of great ideas too) and push for more protests.

At least Fetterman gets to go to the beach now.

Bills arent truly passed until both pass the same version. If it failed in the house either they or the Senate could take up a new version of it. It would still need to pass in both.

Realistically, the house will just agree to pass this version even if it contains things they said they wouldnt vote for the first time around.

It depends. If Johnson thinks the version that passed in the Senate can pass in the House he can bring it to a vote. If it passes there then it goes to the president. If it can't pass in the House, then they have to negotiate a different version and that would have to pass in both chambers.

Yeah the only hope is how tight the house margin is. There has to be several Republicans in blue districts shitting bricks.

According to AP, thanks to uproar from the states, the AI provisions in the bill have been struck down 99-1. At least that's one win, AI really needs regulation before it gets out of control.

And it doesnt meet that framework. We were promised. And so its really about making people live up to the promises, Burlison says.
