I thought he seemed pretty cool despite not having played AAI2 so I did rank him and decently

Armie buff is a largely cute character but I think her gimmick is incredibly annoying and that half of the case is such trash that it annoys me she is still here

IC. If he has playable sections in later games it makes more sense. I agree his characterization is good from the dl-6 stuff he seems like a good guy just top50 off that alone didn't make sense

Ran the numbers because I was curious:

Phoenix Trilogy: 21
Apollo Trilogy: 10
Investigations: 7
Chronicles: 12

I counted Ema as a PT character (because I think she would be in the top 50 on 1-5 alone) and Gregory as a AAI character (because he WOULDN'T be in the top 50 on 1-4 alone), just felt right, everyone else is unambiguous which series they belong to

GAA is pretty stacked!

FINALLY Kristoph out! I would have grown frustrated had he made the top 50. Easily the most damaging character in the entire series. I did like his role in 4-1 a lot (you know, without the context of the rest of the game) as well as the idea of your mentor at the start being outed as the cultprit to the case. He also does have my absolute favorite breakdown in the entire series (the 4-4 one, even if I don't feel it's anywhere near as earned as when you finally one up other big baddies and see them crack). But the direction they took with Kristoph in 4-4 was perhaps among the worst I have seen for any video game character. He was super interesting in 4-1...

Then it got to 4-4 and it was "he's the devil! Also, he got miffed at losing a card game so used the forged evidence he was going to use against his own brother in the trial to instead pettily fuck over Wright and Zak (and indirectly Trucy) with Klavier and the father of the girl he got the forged evidence from being his little pets doing his bidding and go after the father and daughter to cover up his tracks MANY YEARS LATER from within his prison cell! And that's okay, because even if he somehow got called out for it, they can't get him because of how the courts work except that ONE TIME the rules changed because Wright manipulated a jury and Kristoph was given no heads up about how this trial would work so it doesn't matter... Did we mention he was the devil? OOOOOOOOOH, look at his hand! Look at his hand! Also black psyche lockes that are never mentioned again after one scene!*"

*I'm no-selling the black psyche lockes appearing in Dual Destinies for the purpose of this rant because Dual Destinies was not a thing back then.

A lot of Zak's and Klavier's actions (and even Phoenix's) problems in Apollo Justice trace back to Kristoph's actions. And it's not because he's this great villain that you love to hate and want to see get his ass handed on silver platter, it's because Kristoph is badly designed and written as a character in the overall story and the game designers needed to come up with some convoluted way to give him his comeuppance. Cue the whole M.A.S.O.N. system nonsense and changing up how the court works just for one case before magically going back to the way things were in Dual Destinies. Oh, and in the process, making Apollo completely unimportant in HIS OWN GAME. The guy gets better development in DD and SOJ and honestly after building his relationship with Trucy in 4-2 I feel Apollo stagnates during the remaining AJ cases who is just there outside of the few small details.

There are technically worse characters in the series (either by being underdeveloped one-note vicitms, cameos, worthless defendants, witnesses or culprits, or even Zak himself), but Kristoph is the character that I personally felt actually hurt the series. Dual Destinies tried its hardest to scrub the stench of the character and those last two cases away and get things back on track, but my goodness was Apollo Justice an exercise of frustration the longer I played!

And all because he got salty over losing a poker game.

Losing Marlon Rimes RIGHT before the top 50 is painful. My new 2nd-highest ranked character over Verity and behind Damien. Really hoping the correct 5-DLC character comes out on top, because there went #2.

I almost had Marlon in my top 5 but I thought that would be cooking too hard lol, but on retrospection I should have done it

I think it's really funny that we both share strong opinions about Marlon and Damian being really good, they're my top two characters out (6 and 7, my top 5 is intact)

This is all almost certainly true (I haven't played AJ in a long time but I know it's a total mess) but I just think he's cool.

Angel Starr has an amazing design, I was really entranced by her.

My lowest still in is #216 and I hope she'll drop soon.

Oh, my #297 has yet to drop, but that was expected. It's a hate that I acknowledge is somewhat irrational, but I don't care. They annoy the shit out of me.

I was hoping my #192 would get Nahyuta'd but sadly it's not the case. To be fair, I ranked Nahyuta 206 so I did feel this character was a bit better, but still think they fail to bring anything to their major role.

I thought Kristoph was cool when the game started. as I mentioned, 4-1 Kristoph is fun in his mannerisms and how calm and collected he is in contrast to Apollo. It's a shame things turned the way they did because he had a ton of potential.

If the entirety of Apollo Justice was rewritten competently with the exception of 4-1 with a completely different set of cases and backstory and little else was mentioned of Kristoph throughout the rest of the game except in passing, THAT Kristoph would have been in my top 80 if not 60.

Nobody outside my top 200 is left but I do have one character remaining that I don't like, they just barely slipped in lol

All the other 49 characters here are fine

Wow, my lowest ranked now is #91 and fairly sure will drop soon. Now my #87 though...

Actually forgot my #102 is still around. That one will take a while too

I doubt it's someone like Vasquez or Yew. They probably have multiple low rankings that need a top 20 or two to balance them out.

My logic is that if Maria Gorey made it this high she must have boosters lol. Not really a high floor low ceiling kind of character

Yeah I'm ruling Calisto Yew out for the same reason. Must have some low rankings so she's definitely got boosters if she made it this high
