The one thing I wish they had done differently with the Fulbright character is have the Phantom kill and replace him within the game itself (like after 5-3) instead of having him be the Phantom the whole time. It would've raised the investment in the character because you knew the original guy.

Yes, I agree. Getting to meet the real Fulbright in 5-2 and then seeing the Phantom imitate him perfectly in 5-3 really would've made the Phantom seem like more of a threat.

Personally for me it just made it extra jarring when I played 5-6 the first time when he just shows up and we have to act like it's no big deal

Bonny's twin sister. Betty is more aggressive and rude than Bonny, and doesn't like Trucy Wright, though she used to be a fan. Jealousy has gotten to her. She participates in the show and goes along with the prank alongside her sister. Their show hasn't done as well since the trial, as their act relied on them having a twin being a secret. Telling the twins apart is difficult, but both have distinct enough personalities, even though their faces and names are so similar.

A creepy girl, and daughter of the mob boss Bruto Cadaverini. She's an assistant and enforcer for Furio Tigre. She likes making death threats.... very polite death threats. Which makes her scary. I feel like Phoenix Wright needed to hire her to get some of his clients to pay. Looking at you, Larry! She's also someone's top rated character, so she's the second one down. She's fairly well liked, but if she played a bigger role I feel like she'd be more popular.

Overrated imo. Would not be surprised if my #170 ranking here is at least 50 spots off of her overall ranking. She just does nothing for me. - MrSmartGuy

Simeon Saint works with the Berry Big Circus under Regina Berry the animal trainer. He's also accused of murder. As far as big bads go, Simeon is pretty sympathetic and for all the right reasons. They don't just toss on a slightly tragic backstory, then make his actions make no sense. His actions make all the sense, and he's pretty good at manipulating things in his favor. Though I think I'd like him even more if he hadn't dropped the innocent act at the first sight of trouble. It takes so much out of that final case, the way he just drops the act even if it kind of makes sense in character.

I really need to play the remake because I think that hes cool but the fan translation did him a little dirty by not making him seem as cool as he could have been- Paratroopa1

I think I like the idea of Simeon Saint a lot more than the actual character of Simeon Saint. But that's not a dealbreaker for me, because the idea of Simeon Saint is REALLY FUCKING COOL. If he didn't actually kill the president and there was some moral quandary Edgeworth had to navigate to pursue justice, the ending of E2-5 could have been truly ascendant. As it is, though, he just kinda flops at the end because a man in charge of an entire country didn't have the intellect to not run from an incoming hot air balloon. - MrSmartGuy

Simeon Saint is an animal trainer for the Berry Big Circus during the events of AAI-2. Saying anything more about him is actually a pretty big spoiler. Without giving too much away, I find him to be a little derivative and hokey. His backstory and actions that he takes in the game stretch the realm of believability even in a series like this. Also its hard to take him seriously when his animations are super lame. - Colliding

Mimi Miney had the perfect plan. Impersonate her sister and start her life over. It was real simple. Impossible to get caught. At least until her boss decides to visit Morgan Fey for a consultation. He wants to channel her -- of course, she's not dead. Just dead to rights. I think Mimi seems like a decent person for the most part, at least until this case. But then her life just gets turned around so much. A pretty good culprit overall.

Her act is interesting, I guess. For the first day, I'm not a big fan. But it pays off when she drops the act. It's my single favorite moment of JFA outside of 2-4. She just drops that it would be impossible to catch her and leaves you standing there without any input from Phoenix in shock afterward, which is SUPER memorable. I love that the game doesn't move you to a new location away from her automatically and forces you to stare at her as she sits there doing her little dance back and forth menacingly at you. I also really like the way her facade slowly slips away in court. Her animation where she spins her hat on her finger is one of my favorites in the series. - MrSmartGuy

AKA Asa Shinn the Assassin hired to kill John H. Wilson. Jezaille is a transfer student to Japan, but she absolutely LOATHES Japan. She tries to pin the murder on poor Ryunosuke, which proves to be her undoing. At least until she shows up in the second game and gets killed by Raiten Menimemo. For a tutorial villain she's very memorable and stands out.

Huh. I'm surprised I'm not the lowest on Simeon. He totally fell flat for me.

I am actually somewhat happy Viola doesn't appear more. I think she's at her best because she doesn't overstay her welcome. I think she could have been in maybe one more case but like if she becomes Lotta Hart the gimmick possibly gets stale.

I think she's like, what a good PW character should be. She is great, has a fun gimmick, and doesnt get run into the ground. Just really fun-- a lot of little details that enhance her character-- like just the pacing of how the line text come out. The creepiness vibe is just really well done.

In terms of efficiency she's far and away my #1. I could have put her at #1. #1-#3 are kinda interchangeable. I decided to put her at #3 because she has less chances to go stale than the other two, who also don't go stale, do.

Oh, it's fine to have a random side character at #1. I don't think it's trolling because I believe Lopen and FFD's love of Viola is genuine.

My #1 and #2 aren't Phoenix Wright and Miles Edgeworth meaning I have Viola higher than at least one of them so I'm sure my ranking would be mocked too.

I will say I dont identify as a huge fan of the series though and I assume FFD doesn't either.

No shitpost, I've played every game, my list isn't a troll in any way. Leon's more correct though, the series isn't in my top favorites or anything.

Spoilers I think Hobonix is the best version of him and I know I'm going to be fistfighting people on my bottom spot, but they're all my genuine opinions.

You don't have to be in 50 cases to be the best, you just have to maximize the time you do have. And for me, Viola does that better than any other character.

I don't 'get' Viola but people have their pet favs, meh. What I don't like is when someone puts a 'big' character lower than they typically would just to tank their overall score.

I wish we could've seen that alleged middle GAA game. The biggest victim of the alleged cut, aside from Susato not getting a proper character arc, is probably Courtney Sithe.

Viola is basically perfect for what she is, so in that sense she is objectively the best Ace Attorney character.

Phoenix? Becomes a really shitty dad.

Edgeworth? Friends with the worst version of Larry Butz.

..I have no objection to Viola. The rankers can rank Viola or Shah'do number one... But there is still only one truth. That is what we stand here to prove today!

True story me of like 10 years ago probably puts Dahlia in the bottom 20% of the ranking and I feel she's closer to putting Viola at #1 than Phoenix Wright at #1 in terms of "oh, weird pick" energy. I kinda changed how I view certain characters over time and she was one of them. I'll get into more detail when the rankings fall but yeah.

I have no issues with putting a minor character at the top. Its just that Ace Attorney slays on their main characters! Give me a character with 50 great case appearances over 1 great case appearance

Im the highest tanker on Simian. I just really like that character archetype and thought they nailed it well. Also, lame character animations? The chipmunk shrug and the animal slouch are soooo good
