I'm only missing a few gems after all.

*Cold Hard Crash*

Ya know what, maybe we don't finish this game after all.

Original or remake? They messed up the physics in remake and made simple jumps way harder

Remake. I struggled a lot in the original back in the day, too and never 100%ed any of them (aside from CTR my beloved). But yeah, the physics. They feel real bad.

Okay. I got the gem I was missing from Cold Hard Crash. No more ice physics for a while. If I'd gotten to the end and was missing one crate, there'd be a controller lodged in my TV right now.

1st game is plenty hard.

just those bridge level time trials mainly. big difficulty increase there.

2nd game not so bad. would like sony to port the 3 original games plus any others to premium (would buy again).

I tried to do the relics the other day after someone made another post about Crash. It was rage inducing.

Only trophies I'm missing.

The relics aren't canon until 3 and there's no way in hell I'm going for them. >:[

They screwed the physics in the remakes so bad and I'm not sure they ever fixed anything. The only game I platinumed was 3, which as we all know is the best one anyway.

I still remember there was a level called "Night Fight" or something like that, and to get the gem in that level practically required you to jump blindly into the dark

my hot take is that Diggin' It is much worse than Cold Hard Crash

if you know what you're doing to can cheese 90% of CHC and do it first try every time by just bumrushing the death route with triple Akus. Diggin' It is super annoying even when you know what you're doing because you have to do a 3D section backwards.

That was my impression as a kid. Then when I played the remakes I noticed the number of gimmick levels in 3 and I guess also the controls and physics made it more frustrating than I remembered, so I was less enamored with it.

At least CTR NF still fucking rules.

I think I already have everything from the digging and dark levels. I hope I already have everything from those levels.

Outside of the ice and certain things like the ropes in Crash 1's bridge levels, I never really had any issues with the physics in the remakes and I platinum'd the trilogy

K it turns out I don't actually like this game. I thought I did cuz it was one of the first games I ever owned. But actually it's bad. The control is bad, the collision is bad, the camera is bad, and the stage design is bad. Aesthetics are of course amazing.

CTR > Mario Kart. But Mario platforming > Crash platforming. Particularly, but not exclusively, in the remake. :|

I've played these games, both originals and the remake, what feels like a million times

I thought the remake was fine with the controls and hitboxes at first then a few years later I actually did go back and play the PS1 versions and...Crash 3 feels pretty much exactly the same to me but 1 and 2 very obviously feel worse on NST. In particular there is one section at the end of Native Fortress that is fine on the original but is a nightmare on NST to do without dying. At least on NST you can die and still get the gem.

Okay I got the last gem. Totally Bear isn't as bad as I feared. I'm surprised I never found it in the remake. I'm reasonably certain I did on the PS1. Oddly enough, I think I struggled more with it then too.

Also that N. Brio ending sure is nothing. I know it leads directly into 3, but there's like no sense of accomplishment with it. "You blew up the thing, welcome back to the warp room." No shot of Crash and Coco hanging out and relaxing on the beach like in the standard ending, no credits.

Turns out I'd already pretty much completed Warped. I was missing a relic in Hot Coco, but already had all the normal gems for the extra ending. Not gonna go for the gold relics gem or anything in Future Tense because fuck all of that.

I really thought I still had more stuff I needed in both games. But it's probably been a few years since I started up the game, so my memory is hazy.

Also is there any kind of clue in game to lead you to Eggipus Rex? It's such an esoteric path into the level. I don't think there's any visual difference between that particular pterodactyl and the other ones. With Hot Coco, I think it's at least a unique road sign, plus in the remake a bird crashes into the sign as you approach it. So at least there's something special about that trigger.
