Plus this is more than protesting. This is also about awareness and boycotts. Tesla, Target and others have had stock drops. They have "recovered" somewhat, but I would bet many are propped up by dark money. People are spending less.

It will be good to scream defiance instead of waiting in dread for what happens next. The Chicago protests have been invigorating so far but I will never forget seeing film footage of the Chicago Democratic Convention 1968 where police batons were cracking people smack in the face who were just shouting.

I am hoping for nice weather and a mellow mood.

The chapter of 50501 that I am a part of is going to be doing a "Signs of Fascism" walk up and down a large local farmer's market. It should be awesome. It will be similar to this, except for instead of down a regular sidewalk, it will be through a crowd of probably over 10,000 people:

I agree all those signs except the religion one. That isnt a requirement for fascism and not really a factor to this. Heck arent most fascist governments anti religion?

the Christian Nationalism movement that has been worming its way through our government for over 50 years, working to advance its interests through bodies like the Heritage Foundation and the Federalist Society, is most certainly a factor to this.

Protests are part of a process. You don't marching on Saturday and get what you want on Sunday. How long did women's suffrage or civil rights take?

One common factor of Facism (and totalitarian governments generally), is the selling of the National Myth. As far as the US is concerned, religion plays a central role in the foundation story.

I'm not at all hostile to religion, but I very strongly believe that it should be kept at a distance from government.

I know it was rhetorical but suffrage took about 80 years and civil rights took about 99 years. Although we never really saw the results of the laws passed, ostensibly discriminating against someone for their race became illegal in 1964.

So let's try to do better than that, yea?

If you can't protest today, I suggest helping others and raising awareness. Donate to charities if you can. Avoid big business, support local. Help out at a food pantry.

Support independent and local media. Contact some to cover protests. A lot of big media won't care today- they will mention it briefly and move on. Don't let that discourage you. This movement is huge and still growing.

I'm going to be attending 3 events today. A park sit-in protest, a four corners intersection protest, and my org's "Signs of Fascism" walk. It's gonna be a stacked afternoon/evening.

Mine starts at 5:30 in Daley Plaza.

Saw a bunch of people protesting today on the bridges over the highway I take home from work. Gave them a thumbs up! even though its a small town, people still showing up!

Thank you! Yes we covered most of these points with our signs. We made about 25 of them. There's a few that we could add though. Crony capitalism is a good one.

I think the Signs of Fascism Walk did that. There were so many people transfixed on reading each sign as we walked by. There was I think 22 of us total, each with a sign. The line of people was long. When all the bullet points are presented to people like that, one after the other, the impact is cumulative.

It feels like these protests weren't even covered by independent media much. I saw nothing from MediasTouch as a huge example.

Am I wrong?
