Did not expect yesterday's to be so competitive.

I always thought the art on the NA box looked awful. Makes her look like some kind of animal.

The eyes on the NA one look weird, the JPN one has a nice aesthetic, but looks like she's throwing up over the side of the couch.

The EU one is the NA one done properly, and the Xbox version is just generic blah.

There's too much text and icons on the EU one. Would be great if not for the clutter.

I like the cool stylized cover they went with for the JPN version.
The worst is the super generic 360 cover.

The JPN is the best looking one since it's interesting, but none of them are that great, imo.

NA is ok. I'm getting the sense that our heroine is quite afraid, but still pressing onward.

I dunno what's going on with the JP one. I assume it makes sense if you know the game itself.

EU is just the NA one but more generic. I guess the fidelity of the image is at least better.

And the 360 one could be pretty much any game, lol. Like, I straight up expect to see the Great Value logo on it.

JPN is the "coolest", and I could've gone with it if it didn't look like she's leaning over to blast a fart.

So NA wins. EU and 360 are both trash.

JPN has an interesting style. All the rest just scream "this is a shooting game".

1. NA - is good and iconic. Hints at it will be a stealth shooter at least. Artwork of eyes is really good

2. Xbox - love the color scheme and ummmmm character model hehe

3. EU - kind of meh and placement of title feels off

4. Japan - looks more like a horror game or some artsy B level film

The Japan one is a really cool shot but other than the guns and I guess it being literally dark, I'm not really sure what it has to do with the game.

I like the EU one the most though Elvis being reflected in the eye of NA's version is a really cool touch, just a shame Joanna's face looks so off for some reason. Reminds me of the Lion King.

Wasn't the 360 one just an XBLA game? That probably explains the simplistic art.

holy shit, JPN box art is gorgeous

NA. It's the best cover to reflect the content of the game. It's near and tidy, well placed. Elvis reflection adds to the cover.

EU is similar in layout but not as neat and tidy. Also it's jarring how the image is cut off to make way for the title. Elvis reflection is nonsensical.

JP looks like an art house cinema movie poster.

360 manages to look like a game from the 90s, somehow moreso than the N64 versions (which aren't even a 90s game).

They needed to offload a bunch of the logos/icons to a bar on the bottom or side like the NA version. The nice artwork would have taken up less of the box but it would have looked cleaner.

I love the JPN one.

NA, I guess. None of them are great, but EU and 360 feel too generic, and JPN is artsy but makes no sense whatsoever.

NA cover definitely. She's in the shadows holding a gun. Gives a better sense of the game than the other covers

If anybody's curious, the reason for the different box arts is because the NA box art had to be made super quick, before they had a proper model of Joanna to work with. They had more time for the EU box art which has a model of Joanna made by the art director. The JPN box art was completely Nintendo's doing; Rare didn't have an involvement in it at all.

Japanese Joanna Dark got a glamorous makeover to make her a tad more appealing to the Japanese N64 community. Not sure why the boxart for the Japanese version doesnt showcase this as Im kinda jealous that we didnt get her even as an unlockable multiplayer character head.
