The government only allows ONE ballot dropbox per county, meaning Harris County, a county with 5 MILLION people and greater in landmass than the state of Rhode Island, has the same number of ballot dropboxes as a county with fewer than 1,000 people. Texas also has no online voter registration, you have to be 65 or older to vote by mail, and no same-day voter registration. Texas's Attorney General, Ken Paxton, tried to arrest 4 Hispanic women for trying to register people to vote. The first redistricting attempt was struck down as an extreme gerrymander, though the state had one for a while before that. Straightening out the border between the 6th and 8th districts in Montgomery County might help flip the 6th, but the rest of the Democrat repped districts have a double digit D lean. The 6th right now is rated as a D+3, while the others are D+10, D+12, D+17, D+30, D+31 and D+39. The Republican held district is R+8 and is tough to gerrymander because it's on the east side of the Chesapeake Bay and wraps around the top. The Dems could've retained the House after the 2022 midterms if the NY Supreme Court hadn't struck down an attempted gerrymander. If the problem was something in the state constitution, I'm surprised the legislature there hasn't tried to amend it.
