Well they don't specify an increase, but what else will pricing changes due to current market conditions mean.

Pricing for the original Nintendo Switch family of systems and products will change in the United States based on market conditions, effective August 3, 2025. These include Nintendo Switch OLED Model, Nintendo Switch, Nintendo Switch Lite and select Nintendo Switch accessories.
Other Nintendo products, including certain Nintendo Switch 2 accessories, select amiibo, and the Nintendo Sound Clock: Alarmo, will also see adjustments.
Pricing for the Nintendo Switch 2 system, physical and digital Nintendo Switch and Nintendo Switch 2 games, as well as Nintendo Switch Online memberships, will remain unchanged at this time. However, please note that price adjustments may be necessary in the future.

I see they don't want to directly say it's because of tariffs, but it's because of tariffs.

The Switch 2 and it's games will get an increase in price soon. It is inevitable.

I wouldn't be surprised if they remove NSO family memberships to force everyone to pay for it individually to maximize profits.

Have you ever bought something before? Unless you are the one importing the good you aren't paying the tariff. If you have, you probably remember paying an import tax, that's a tariff. Most things you buy at stores were imported by the store or their supplier. They paid the tax when they imported the item. There's no way you think you pay a tariff at the register when you buy something because you have presumably bought things before. You can say you aren't trolling, but this is really hard to believe.

I meant that the retailer would change the price. I just saw a headline that said there is no precedence for these weird-ass tariffs so don't try to make me out to be some freaking idiot or troll.

So I assumed that the prices would be marked up in retailers, not like a tax at the register, just that the price would go up.

Buying directly from Nintendo I did think the receipt would be itemized with the tariff, because that what people importing stuff from Canada report is happening.

I don't know why "corporate greed" is suddenly a problem.

The price of the Switch 2 isn't going up but the Switch is? How does that make sense? Presumably both will be hit by the tariffs. It's inconsistent.

If they are raising prices cause of tariffs they need to say so, otherwise they fucking suck as well. The are going to use these tariffs as an excuse to raise prices and reap the profits with a smile on their face.

The system is old as fuck. It should be price-dropping, not going up. I could see delaying the price-drop to offset the tariff, but not "raising the price."

I don't think Nintendo think they fucked up this launch at all. In my opinion they aren't planning on supporting the "Switch 2" all that much. The Switch 2 is so cyberpunk and rdr2 and whatnot can run on the system, and the handful of first party games will be minimal, I expect. Most of their games will launch for both the Switch and S2.

No one remember that New 3DS "launch"? This one is not quite so bad, but it's like they are saying "okay but how bad, exactly, can we be?"

Look I don't really want to be shitting all over people's new toy. In light of the S1 price increase, I'd say buying an S2 was probably a really good decision for a lot of gamers. Like I said, it can run all kinds of games like the Steam deck can.

I just don't trust Nintendo either. I feel like a game on Steam can be reinstalled on newer systems and is much less likely to just disappear. I feel like Switch servers could go down within 10 years.
