I swear that movie has no fans outside of the "at least we got a live action Pokemon movie"

I haven't really watched since it's initial release but I did like the movie

I went to the theaters to see it randomly after I ran into a couple friends going to it at a mall and man it blew. The only two things I'll give it is some of the designs were good and the ditto part rocked

I liked it when I saw it. Just a random day to watch it. It wasn't oscar or a razzle. It was okay

I liked it well enough, and thought it was weird it never panned out more because it was a good concept for a series or bigger universe.

I liked it a lot. Rewatched it a couple years ago and I think the designs should be better but overall its fun. Excited for a sequel

I enjoyed it for what it was and laughed out loud a couple times

Probably because this was around the time when movies based on video games were not as hot as they are now. I remember a lot of uncertainty around that movie back then

Also, it's Detective Pikachu, a spin off game thats nothing like the main series adapted as a film. Its works great, but it might not have been what people were expecting, what with Pikachu being able to talk and all

I am still surprised there has never been a sequel though. The movie did well enough as I recall

As some recent successful video game movies have established, detective pikachu should have been voiced by Jack Black for maximum success.

Its honestly better than the games that inspired it.

I liked it. Incorporating Mewtwo the way they did was wild.

I did. I'm shocked they aren't spitting out more live action Pokemon.

At the least the movie explains why Pikachu can talk, and even the other characters are like "WTF this Pikachu can talk!?"

I felt that the first game was way too overhated. It was fine for what it was trying to do.

Never interacted with the rest of the franchise.

I thought people liked it in general. It was a video game movie that was shocking at the time for not being terrible. I know I enjoyed it. It felt like it wasn't too restricted by established pokemon lore while also not clashing with it. And Justice Smith played a fun scaredy cat reluctant protagonist.
