A bunch of the creatives still involved in the semi-official Homestuck creator network have already come out and said that large parts of it are, specifically the parts about Hussie using the licensing deals to nefariously take over their projects. The part about Hussie trying to cut Gio out of the collection I might somewhat believe, but it's definitely not the entire story because Gio is a known shit-stirrer and both they and Hussie are clearly still harboring grudges.

Theres a reason to disbelieve those people for a couple reasons. Number 1: this is the exact sort of thing that happened to Sarah Z, which she has confirmed on Twitter. Number 2, look carefully on what Hussie wanted Gio to sign: he insinuated that to not sue for previous infringement, Gio would need to disparage the claims of the Sarah Z video and previous articles. In other words, Hussie has signed contracts in the past forcing people to advocate on his behalf.

As for the licensing deals, you should read the second article, which came out after the first. In short, Hussie never distanced himself from Homestuck like he claimed, and hes been involved in every decision despite claiming he wasnt. Every single thing Homestuck has done in recent years has had him at the core, even when he had people like James Roach take the fall for it.

As for Gio being a known shit-stirrer, this is also false. Homestuck officials have done stuff like claim he leaked nudes to try to defame him, but this was blatantly a lie.

Hussie has had a repeated pattern of behavior of trying to bully anyone who publishes anything that he thinks makes him look bad. Theres been reports from people who worked under him while Homestuck was running, like members of the music team, that hes always been like this. Its probably why the relations with the original Hiveswap dev team deteriorated.

Like this is clearly beyond holding a grudge at this point. If youre dealing with someone who has tried to make people sign contracts and NDAs theyre not allowed to read before signing them including ones that compel speech, you have reason to distrust what people who actually did sign those contracts say.

The lying is part of the issue. The malicious usage of contracts is part of the issue. You are defending someone who never graduated beyond high school bully.

Hussie's done a bunch of terrible shit that I don't defend. Historically, people who have chosen to work with them have had VERY mixed results. Many of them have been open about their experiences, good or bad! You bring up that the creative team has been hostile to Gio, but the flip side of that is that it was because Gio's articles and aggressive conduct directly or indirectly caused the staff to get death threats and harrassment which is happening again right now. I don't think either of them are angels, here. But if you refuse to believe anything anyone who has actual experience on the project says then there's no conversation to be had.

Articles that were about Hussies previous misconduct? Yes, deaths threats are inexcusable, but holding Gio responsible for them is ridiculous on its face - and yet, what was Homestucks response? Not even a promise to do better, but instead threatening lawsuits and attempting to silence people.

Death threats are unacceptable, but the harassment part is them attempting to defame people asking them to take accountability for the stuff theyve done and they lies theyve told, including to their Kickstarter supporters.

There is absolutely no reason to believe anything from people who admitted theyve acted as Hussies go-betweens now.
