When I played Red Dead Redemption II the gang would periodically send someone to check on me to entice me to come back to the base camp to try to get me to advance the story but I would always tell them to go without me. I would barely ever return to base camp because you could just camp in the woods all the time. I would do these long hunting expeditions and just stay out for weeks at a time.
