It covers multiple eras. Comes with a Krennic figure as well, among some others. But yeah, it's big, but definitely not $1000 worth.

It's amazing to me how Lego has managed to slide under the radar in terms of grossly overcharging for pretty basic plastic blocks without some sort of massive consumer revolt. These things started as cheap toys for kids to learn and build and now you need to take out a small loan to be able to buy like $12 in pieces.

Even LEGO enthusiasts are pissed about this. Not just the price, but some of the stuff shown are exclusive to members who preorder when it first releases. It basically has a day 1 preorder bonus.

I am not defending this practice but Lego has been doing this for at least a couple years now.

actually the day 1 pre-order bonus is often good for people who actually want the sets

they get it and can sell it and reduce the price of the full set

but if you want to keep it and not sell it yeah that don't work also if you miss out

Because the giant castle isn't a Star Wars tie in. Lego prices their sets around how desperate collectors will be and not based on anything sensible like the number of pieces.

that is a pretty poor GWP tbh

many mini tie fighter exist already but that won't stop it from being scalped

They must pay a fair bit for the licensing on products like this.

But there's lots of cool stuff that isn't pricey. F1 cars for less than 20, for example. Even some nice stuff under 10.

I dont hate it, but I absolutely do not like it enough to justify paying $1,000 for it.

I wouldn't say there's "many" at that price point, but yes they do have cheaper sets like an NYC taxi for $10. Still doesn't change the fact that charging $1000 for this is absurd and purely because they know collectors will pay for it.

Just did a search on the Lego site, and there's nearly 500 products under 20.

You don't go to a Bugatti dealer and say, 'fuck me, cars are expensive these days!'.

Probably what most complain about is Zelda only has expensive set.

But this Star Wars set is different. Star Wars probably got at least 5 if not 10 cheap sets or more

The set has 9023 pieces at $999.99 which translates to 11 cents per piece. That's not too bad considering there's licensing factored in here.

Also I think it looks great. I may get it.

I was expecting to build some kind of city style lego's, not just half of a death star. I know Lego's are becoming more premium, especially with IP's, but this is a massive ripoff.

TBF, the UCS actually is geared toward adult builders/collectors.

Not that I'll buy it, but $1,000 for 9,023 pieces comes out to $0.11 a piece. That's not so bad, there's just so many of them. O_O

Again this isn't any more expensive than any other STAR WARS lego products.

Price per piece on the 5 most expensive Star Wars lego sets currently on Legos site.

• Death Star 11 cents per piece
• Millennium Falcon 11cents per piece
• Venator-Class Republic Attack Cruiser 12 cents per piece
• The Razor Crest 10 cents per piece
• Jabbas Sail Barge 13 cents per piece

This just seems worse than it actually is. It's just that they've never offered a Star Wars product with this many pieces before. I get it a thousand dollars is a lot of money.

I think people would be balking at the cost less if it looked like a premium product and not like 10 $25 sets in a circle

Its a pass for me. A close to 10k piece super star destroyer maybe I would jump but not for a diorama.

Its too bad to as i have a few of UCS sets already.

Is it my imagination, or has the design quality of lego sets been going down? I remember the ones from my youth being way cooler.
