I'm with the writer of the article here, removing these events from the game is a far more political move than going forward business as usual.

i'm only 30 and I've seen the LGBTQ community go from being demonized, to (somewhat begrudgingly) accepted, to right back into being demonized, and arguably worse than in the 2000s at that.

Ive said for years that companies by and large didnt actually give a fuck and were just trying to cash in by expanding their audience. Now that the shoe is on the other foot they cant switch fast enough.

I work for a federal contractor. And for the last 6-7 years, every year we had a bunch of mandatory trainings, including Diversity trainings, and all their slides were full of diversity and so on, they constantly preached about it, etc.

Now, since the election, theyve pivoted to removing all that and talking about how the new administration means new opportunities and our company distinguishes itself by our performance and that the government has told us Youre not like the others who are just trying to take as much money as possible and string us along, etc.

I get that you have to protect the company from an obviously capricious and vindictive idiot who could easily blacklist you from being rewarded federal contracts on a whim, but it kind of disgusts me that they seem content and / or happy about it rather than putting on a begrudging performance.

Maybe now people will be ready to take matters into their own hands instead of waiting for somebody else to do it for them.

In osrs at least a few Jagex Moderators held the annual pride parade on their time off at least so not all Jagex employees feel the same as this chud of a CEO

Edit: Just read the article completely and it missed that when this happened the pride event was completed already and just needed to be shipped out and he said he was essentially scared of the anti-woke crowd though he's really just one himself
