I wonder how much of the Chicago crusade is just because it's Obama's city.

It mystifies me how you guys think Trump being gone means it's going to be all over and things can go back to normal.

The entire GoP is comprised entirely of nutjobs, but Trump showed them that now they can do anything they want with absolutely no consequences. It's not going to stop when he's gone, in fact it could end up a lot worse.

Imagine someone like Trump, but smarter, more evil, more bold.

I get the feeling a lot of people are in for a rude awakening in the future.

You are correct there are tons of people more evil, smarter, and bolder than Trump. However, not many have has much charisma as Trump. It is much easier for Trump to get people onboard to do horrible things than someone like Stephen Miller.

That's part of it, however I think the two biggest reasons however are:

1) Chicago has been the target of right wing media (aka all mainstream media) for over 30 years.

2) Trump personally really hates Chicago because Chicago residents chased him out of one of his rallies in the 2016 election campaign.

All a new person has to do is capitalize on things Trump would do and the cult would flock, tell the people what they want to hear.

For example, a new person could systemically call for the deportation of everyone who isn't white and they would rally behind him. And being as charismatic as Trump isn't exactly that difficult, anyone could do it for the masses he's trying to rally to his side.

I honestly think you are underestimating how difficult it is to have Trump's charisma. There are tons of people in the GOP trying to copy him but none come close. DeSantis is probably the biggest example. His shtick may work in Florida but he is laughed at on a national scale.
