To be fair? It appears the shooter WAS trained, he just was trained by his gun loving parents. It's not like the shot he took was a super easy shot.

I think people take solace in "it had to be a trained, professional killer"....since it's frankly a little terrifying that this can be done by any yahoo with an easily obtained gun and some hours of practice.

The "trained professional" is a way to make it make sense. But the reality is it doesn't take much for a random schmo to be very deadly with a gun

I remember when there was a mass shooter and the first reports came out that they were nonbinary, and the lawyer even tried to argue that, but the whole lie unraveled quickly across the 24 hour news cycle and social media... but the "LGBT+ shooter" rhetoric continued unabated through the usual channels.

I'm trying to find it, but all my search results are about the Minnesota shooter from two weeks ago or thinkpieces about how, "No, there is literally no pattern of LGBT+ shooters on the rise." Which are thinkpieces we need, but it's kept me from finding that specific data to quote here.

Yup. This guy committed a shooting that any dude with a few days' worth of practice at a rifle range (or outdoors in a rural place, frankly) could have committed. It is incredibly sad, but the truth is that guns are so easy to access that it does not take that much work for an individual to commit an act of violence like this one. Want to change that? We need to start doing something about guns being so readily accessible, but that's not happening anytime soon.

Yup all of the stuff written on the casings are 4chan and hell divers 2 memes the "Hey, fascists, catch this!" in particular is a move in that game where you drop a massive bomb on the opponent he even wrote down the button inputs for the move
