I hate to get political here, but this is not political. This is more about democracy, he said during an appearance at the University of Southern California on Monday. If you vote yes on that, we go backwards.

But there is obviously a difference between violence in entertainment/creative media, and real world violence such as supporting guns/2nd amendment etc, I wouldnt hold being an actor in an action movie against him

The Pro side needs to get off their asses and counter all the anti-ads at least one for one. If they don't fight, the proposition will fail. I don't watch or listen to media that has ads any more, so I don't know what's happening out there.

But I do remember trusting CA voters to do the right thing was how proposition 8 (aka proposition hate) passed in CA in 2008.

I don't recall him saying that to Texas.

i've been told by county dem party board people and a representative from CADEM that they just don't have the money to counter the anti-ads. Charlie Munger Jr. is throwing millions of dollars at this. he was mega rich, and now with his daddy's inheritance, he is probably uber rich. there's just no way to compete with that.

we are canvassing heavily for Yes on Prop 50 though. there is a new canvassing app that was being developed for the midterms, but they pushed it out there now as a sort of trial run because it is supposed to get more people engaged and make it easier to canvass. i used it when i canvassed on Saturday, it was not bad. the person organizing that particular day of canvassing said that it was the biggest turnout for canvassing volunteers she's ever seen. we are going to do more next weekend. there are canvassing events all around the county being posted to Mobilize. hopefully it makes a difference. the app only has us go to registered dem voters, and there were some who said they are already planning on voting yes on 50, but also quite a few who said they hadn't heard of it or weren't sure about it, and we talked to them and gave them a flyer about it.

When I did a quick check online, it looked like pro and anti had comparable funding, so perhaps Republicans are using dark money that doesn't get reported on for this.

yeah it is odd. i wouldn't doubt the Republicans are using dark money. but at the same time, i just don't know what the Dems are spending the funding on if not ads.

If people oppose gerrymandering they should support blanket, country-wide gerrymandering bans.

So long as it's legal, there's no reason not to use it when the other side will.

I genuinely don't know what Arnold even still has in common with the modern GOP. When he was actually governor yeah sure, but now? What? Is there a single other person in the party not only hasn't attacked, but actively supported, Greta Thunberg?

He has always been a "vibes based" politician. Here's how he became a Republican:
I finally arrived here in 1968. What a special day it was. I remember I arrived here with empty pockets but full of dreams, full of determination, full of desire. The presidential campaign was in full swing. I remember watching the NixonHumphrey presidential race on TV. A friend of mine who spoke German and English translated for me. I heard Humphrey saying things that sounded like socialism, which I had just left. But then I heard Nixon speak. He was talking about free enterprise, getting the government off your back, lowering the taxes and strengthening the military. Listening to Nixon speak sounded more like a breath of fresh air. I said to my friend, I said, "What party is he?" My friend said, "He's a Republican." I said, "Then I am a Republican." And I have been a Republican ever since.

I doubt he spends much time, if any, actually reading about political ideology. He went the celebrity to politician route, like Trump (also someone who has no real ideology, has definitely never read a book on political ideology, and just vibes his way to policy decisions), so he never has any formal education in political science, public policy, or law.

Shit, I sure hope this prop passes, but I've been seeing barely any advertising in its favor. That said, I do live in a red as fuck part of California, so that won't help.
