About to watch it and peeps are already discussing it in the episode 6 topic...

It was an alright episode. Felt Wendy's actions kind of came out of no where. Also, I guess Wendy just doesn't care about Slightly or Smee at all.

im sad it took my head a season to start enjoying the show (I wasn't really a fan until maybe episode 5), but now I'm really enjoying it

I don't mind them taking her in this direction. The xenomorph stuff was clearly hinted at. It's just crazy how over the course of what 20 minutes between the two episodes she went from "I like it here and don't want to leave" to "Fuck it, I'm a killing everyone and smiling while I do it"

I think this show is great if you turn your brain off to the dumb stuff. I'm enjoying the hell out of it but I find myself forgiving a lot more than I usually would, probably because I'm a dumb Alien fan. These last two eps were filled with a lot of dumb, but its still really fun so idk if I even care.

Not sure how I feel about Wendy being a Xenomorph whisperer.

Because she was about to kill his girlfriend. The confrontation in general felt a little dumb overall. Would have been better if it was just his girlfriend and the other homie confronting them instead of a big ass squad of mfs.

I know the creators of the show said they have ideas for future seasons and that they could theoretically go up to like season 5 maybe. But it comes down to ratings.

I don't get why everyone complains about dumb stuff happening in modern Alien content. There are exactly three intelligent people in this show: the psychologist, the (now dead) programmer/engineer, and Kirche. Everyone else is only as well educated or intelligent as the company needs them to be for their rolls. In real life, people are dumb as shit, and there has been a concentrated effort politically aimed at lowering educational standards.

Everything Prodigy does is at the direction of a delusional, self-important rich man who thinks he is the smartest person in existence. We have those here in real life, and it has resulted in lax safety standards and terrible practices. Plus, all of these aliens are super advanced bio-weapons that are meant to be subversive. In spite of all this, Kirche has succeeded in capturing everything except the escaped xenomorph, and we don't know that he won't get that one back too.

Are people actually complaining about how the synths act? Because those are either children (and from the look of things, not carefully chosen specimens) in robot bodies, or robot bodies running a simulation of a child's brain. And these are early model synths that were notoriously "twitchy". If you want to complain about what they are getting away with, that's either down to Kirche's plan to capture the Weyland-Yuntani agents, or Kavalier's meddling, and nobody can tell him no.

After this episode, I think it has been made largely clear that consciousness transfer was not attained, and that these synths are broken copies of the original people. And I think Joe understands that now.

Yeah, and it was very predictable too. Of course a big army was going to be waiting at the only way off the island.

I am enjoying the series on a surface level, but I dont really care about any of these characters and I dont know why. Is it the performances? Is it that the extreme corporate greed at the heart of Alien is no longer at all shocking in 2025? Is it that the idea of kids in android bodies works better on paper than in execution?

I truly dont know. There is stuff I enjoy about each episode, but nothing about it has really pulled me in so far. The dumb decisions by people dont even bother me: that is just Alien. I am just not really invested in the story.

The mother doctor irks me the most at this point because she's basically a shell of a character. She had something going for her then she started acting super out of character for the last 2 or 3 episodes.

They seemed more like a couple in the first few eps. But thats only one part of her character i take issue with. Her entire shtick is that she cares for the kids but she is actively not caring for the kids every chance she gets lol she kinda just exists.

Yeah, she's strange. Gets her husband fired, takes his job, learns he's missing, one of the kids is dead, that he deactivated the tracker, and the lab is breached... and she decides to take a nap. lol

It's like a 50/50 of people being stupid versus Kirsh deliberately setting up things to fail according to whatever plan he has.

Regardless the cause, it's all backed by a complete irreverence toward human life from BK, Kirsh and Prodigy as whole. They really don't give a single shit about their employees at all and have no problem just letting people die for their needs.

They had orders not to damage the Hybrids. No-one was expecting Nibs and Wendy to be as dangerous as they are so it's possible they didn't have the clearance to use lethal force ahead of time. The ones on the boat were fighting because they were in direct danger, but the others on the pier weren't.

they should have prepared for that specific scenario just in cast it happened. The company knows the hybrids have deadly strength and surely they would have informed the soldiers of that. Maybe design a way to stun them without killing them.

Prodigy clearly does not give a shit if they lose some mooks to non-lethally take down the hybrids. They also probably didn't think it necessary since they were just scared kids.

If they can do shit like remove memories and disable their hearing, they really should have a power off switch.

Makes me wonder what the alien might be putting in Wendys head?

The xenomorphs have been established to be rather intelligent creatures with very fast development.

Feeling betrayed by her supposed caretakers at the same time shes developing a bond with a creature that seems to be very protective or bonded with her is enough to make her feel safe to break away.

Especially if she feels its the best way to protect the other hybrids who she seems to feel a bit of a big sister to.

Kirsh was very close to losing everything too. If Arthur had lasted a bit longer, Morrow would e taken him, the xenomorph, and 2 hybrids and left. Kirsh only succeeded because they had to go to plan B and advance to the lab. It really like pure luck that things worked out in his favor.

It's possible that Kirsch, when he was with Slightly and Smee to help them get away, was using that as an opportunity to weigh up Arthur's condition and get a sense of how close the chestburster was to coming out.

Imminent chestburster - let 'em go, maintain surveillance and re-capture chesterburster later.

Chestburster likely to stay dormant longer, stop Slightly from taking Arthur to Morrow.

His plan/ agenda seems to revolve around drawing Morrow into the facility by dangling a Xenomorph in front of him, which meant some controlled chaos had to be allowed to play out.

So who do we think is going to get offered up to T. Ocellus as a host?

Ive seen Sylvia and Hermit tossed around on Reddit. I can see that, but I also think it could be Wendy as a way to solidify her rebellion arc. I think the show is also relying on our natural predisposition to think this creature wants organic matter only, but we have other creatures that have shown to feed on synthetic matter,

We dont know if it can merge with synthetics or not, but it certainly did try with Nibs early on. I could see Boy Kavalier, in a sadistic way, thinking that access to Wendys brain will jump start its evolution so he can this conversation with it that he so damned obsessed over.

That's the thing. She isn't human anymore. She has android physiology now. They are algorithm based and she now no longer cares for people on the island after they erased her sisters memories and then basically killed her. She is not happy with anyone and because she is a android, her emotions aren't there. She can focus on what she wants to do. Which is grt off the island.

I think it was mentioned in the episode 6 thread - did the developers confirm that the eye creature *wasn't* trying to help the doctor in episode 5 by drawing attention to the leeches escaping?

i was really liking this show up until this episode.

The makers of the show said they have ideas to go to like season 5 but its not announced yet if there will be a season 2.

Hard to say. I like the show so I already was enjoying it. Episode 2 if I remember, finishes up the cleanup of the crashed ship and then stuff moves to the company island. Rest of the show is a mix of dealing with android issues and learning about the different alien species.

They clearly still have emotions, but it was mentioned in an early episode that the emotions have been lessened.

Also seeing that a. they can be killed and b. the complete lack of caring when Tootles got killed.
