finished the movie its really damn good

best superman film ever

I throughly enjoyed it myself. Watching Luthor finally get what was coming to him was so cathartic.

I was afraid they where watering down Lex by making go for another land grab scheme. When he says the land grab is just an excuse to kill Superman I smiled, that's the petty man-child Lex I know.

and even ignore that i have no way to get to a movie theater but even if id id again i hate movie theaters

I've seen it about five times now. It is easily my favorite Superman movie so far. I think the DCU is in good hands.

I Really enjoyed the movie myself, I am also glad it helped bring a spotlight onto Mr Terrific since he has been fairly niche until now

Can't wait for the sequel, REALLY can't wait for lanterns

Not a very high bar. lol

But yeah, not only did I think it was the best Superman movie but I legit liked it as well. This, along with Peacemaker make me cautiously optimistic of what Gunn does with the future movies. As much as I love the Nolan movies, I'm ready to move away from grimdark reality based Batman. Give me a full on mudman Clayface or giant crocodile man in Killer Croc, so on and so forth.

I watched it the first time yesterday and thought it was just fine. I don't care much for Superman though. I think it suffered from the character of Lex being smarter than the writers could write for him.

I have a lot of nitpicks but I really enjoyed it. I know its dumb but I loved when he said Golly in the beginning because with one word he set the tone and it felt like a palette cleanser washing away the Snyder verse. I love the Lantern choice, Mr. Terrific was great I just didnt like how Gunn repeated himself there with that one scene that was way too similar to Yondus arrow scene. Louis had a fake fight with Clark. They werent even really disagreeing it was just a lot of yelling. And Lex shouting A1 B12 lol. Why not just have him wear some kind of brain interface chip or AR? Obviously Superman would be faster with that kind of delay.

I really, really believe Superman will show up in the last episode of Peacemaker and Superman will praise him and give him the confidence and all hes been needing.

also you should all watch Peacemaker, its got many of the characters from this movie in it,

I'm almost nervous to watch this movie now because it isn't like I try but I seem to often have like opposite opinions on entertainment with a lot of people on gamefaqs and this one is getting universal praise so I'm almost expecting for me it will suck. Like so many people were over the top hyped from the trailer alone and I watched the trailer and it really did nothing much for me.

Like I'm not saying it was highly praised but I remember plenty of people who thought Man of Steel in 2013 was good and I really was pretty luke warm on my feelings on that. Like yeah it was better than that dogshit movie from 2006 Superman Returns but still nothing that really blew me away.

I try not to be the guy that is stuck in the past and biased to my own era but I still feel like 1978 and 1980 are the pinnacle of anything Superman I have watched. Also I have to say I know absolutely nothing about the comics so any inconsistencies that go against the comics or anything that people praise for being more faithful to the comics is lost on me. I'm not a comic guy. I'm talking strictly movie impressions.

tho i hate the OG supes movies, they bore me to tears. so i dunno

Oh I will eventually. Just not expecting much out of it.

I thought it was pretty good, like 8/10, maybe even 8.5/10, and is definitely my favorite live-action Superman movie, but tbh that is such a low bar it basically means nothing. There were a couple of silly moments that I think were supposed to be cool, like the weird backward handspring body morph thing as an alternative to just turning around, and Luthor yelling out commands to Ultraman to defeat Superman was a bit goofy.

I watched it in German. Looking forward to rewatching it in English

That was one of the few misses in the movie for me. I think it would've been funnier if Lois hadn't commented on it and they just cut away to them flying in it.

I watched it last night. I really loved the emotional moment between Lois and Superman while a barely-addressed giant eldritch horror from another dimension is quietly being taken down in the background of the shot.

I saw where people had a problem with that scene, saying that Superman wouldn't just sit there with a threat right outside. But the movie goes out of its to show that Clark has a lot of support. This is a Superman with a lot of superhero colleagues he can trust and rely on, and he knew the threat was something they could safely and effectively handle without him. It shows Superman to be humble and without ego, not a person that would assume he has to do everything himself.

Made joke to my maga buddy that superman should be deported since hes illegal and didnt go through the right channels. Would be labeled a criminal according to him.

He replied he did it the right way and he was adopted by a couple and raised as a human

It would have been better to show the park crowd being uncertain and confused on what they just heard. And there should have been more of a divide on people believing the footage and thinking it's fake and still on Superman's side. It seemed like the entire planet just mindlessly believed the footage

...but so is that. Well, he did say a mix. Some would be all over it, but many would not be so quick to turn.

Anyway, I thought it was a great movie. I didn't watch many of the DCEU movies, the darker tone of many of them weren't my thing and the reviews for many of them were pretty mixed. But this is a great start to the DCU.

There'd also be plenty of incel types online thinking Superman having a harem and taking over the world was le epic. Again, current times.

Really good movie. Im looking forward to watching Lanterns and Supergirl.

Apparently I'm in the minority, but I just didn't really care for it. Haven't even finished it as I fell asleep for the last 20 or so minutes.

I dunno, a lot of the jokes didn't land super strong for me, and a fair bit of the effects were distractingly bad or ugly. The Creature blowing fire was done terribly to the point of taking me completely out of the scene

I did however really like the overly Boy Scout persona - he was genuinely trying to be the best 'Man' possible, even if it made he incredibly naive.

And someone pointed out Lex shouting the commands for the Boravian Hammer; it was a ton of fun and did a great job showing off not only his Supes obsession, but it showed how wildly intelligent he is.... That being said, yea, it wouldn't have worked at all. Super man's reflex and reaction timing would have absolutely smoked verbal command lag.

I rewatched it last night, its weird how that tear/rip at the end travels to metropolis so fast then through metropolis to lex tower really fast also, then it just stopped?
then the movie stopped focusing on that and only focused on Superman fighting Ultraman and the engineer and the war for the next 20 minutes maybe more.
then when you get back to the rip it didnt even really move, the thing should have split half the country by then, yet it was still kinda in the same place for 20 minutes before
