It's an interesting Wikipedia article. The movie angered people by being too
  • religious
  • atheistic
  • watered down from the book
  • dense with stuff from the book
  • unfaithful to the book
So it did poorly in the US and well abroad but I think everyone was scared and or frustrated off

https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Golden_Compass_(film%29

eta I read the book but never saw the movie, so you're still in this topic

it's a grindcore documentary that I watched on Youtube (it was made officially free-to-watch during COVID). I thought it was decent. Guys from most of the bands you'd expect (Napalm Death, Carcass, Repulsion, Brutal Truth, Terrorizer, etc.) are in it.

My brother and I used to go to the video store and purposely rent out really bad looking d grade movies.

We found one called "Body Melt". It was an Aussie horror movie from the 90s or early 00s.

It was a trip because it had Harold Bishop from Neighbours as the villain. He even said fuck!!!! This was a big deal to me because I've only ever known that actor as super family friendly and would never utter a bad word!

It was a shit movie. Some pharmaceutical company made some PED that was faulty and would cause body parts to grow super large and cause heart attacks or something.

It had one scene with the brick shithouse body builder getting it on with this chick. His junk is the random body part that is growing while they bang and it expands so much it ends out killing her and then he dies to.

Man, that brought up some memories haha

Awesome movie to get for free. Geena Davis did a great job with both roles, and S.L.J. is great in everything. :D

The Incredible Shrinking Man (1957) with screenplay done by Richard Matheson who wrote the story the movie was based off, The Shrinking Man (1956). It's not unpopular as some editions of the book use the film title and the book even had an IDW comic mini in 2015.

I just barely see any familiarity of it on the forums and such I frequent.
