New Jersey

Governor race, D. Incumbent: Mikie Sherrill (D) vs. Jack Ciattarelli (R)

Polls close 8PM EST.

Pennsylvania

Pennsylvania is voting on whether or not to retain 3 Democratic judges for 10 more years.

California

Proposition 50, which would allow California to redraw congressional districts mid-decade in response to other mid-decade redistricting efforts in Republican states.

Polls close at 8PM PST.

There's a bunch of other smaller races (GA superintendent, a lot of propositions including ones in Maine & Texas, etc.) but these are all probably the marquee races. Dem-favored results are considered favored in most of these, except the VA AG race due to the Jay Jones text scandal.

In terms of 2026: We probably won't learn much. The GA superintendent races and PA judge retention races involve swing states but are very low salience and not the same piles of cash spent on, say, the WI judge race earlier this year that mostly told us Rs don't turn out in these elections much regardless of endorsement & money spent.

NY is notorious for slow counting.

If it's a blowout though I imagine by 10.

I'll be tracking the bellwether races on Long Island tonight.

The marquee race tonight is between Blakeman and Koslow for county executive. This is an extremely flippy office.

Nassau is notoriously slow. Be ready to be disappointed.

If Miyares wins VA AG, that's going to be only a matter of candidate quality, not policies.

The ACA mandate penalty still exists here in NJ. That's why Ciattarelli came so close last time. Murphy never promised to end it and as far as I can tell neither has Sherrill.

If Ciattarelli wins, this will be why.

These races always come down to normal candidate (D) vs. radioactive murder hornets (R).

And 1/3 of the voters love the radioactive murder hornets and another 1/3 of the voters can't or don't care to tell the difference between radioactive murder hornets and not-radioactive murder hornets.

Jones messed up and seemed like a wet blanket, but we need all non-GOP law enforcement officials possible. For lawsuits and to fight election shenanigans over the next 3 years.

I think the issue was more the texts where he talked about the death of Republican children. if he loses, we all know that's why
