Nah the cryptobro class of billionaires are generally rather low intelligence and have garbage logical deductive abilities, it's an accident. They're likely throw a party when they realize what they're achieving because they're so stupid they fail to understand all the consequences (that hit them in the wallet) that will flow on from it as well.

If it was an actual push to kill the personal computer MS would be trying to drive people away from the PC which they're not (they are headed towards making all PCs into spyboxes though, that'd definitely the plan going forward.)

Im glad I built in June. But yes. Basically everything has RAM chips in it. SSDs, graphics cards, routers, switches, consoles, etc.

I would expect anything with a RAM chip in it to get more expensive for the next few years because all the RAM manufacturing is booked up for 4 years.

yeah this stupid bubble is effecting pc parts and i knew it will get worse so glad i have a running pc for a while but fuck GPU is going to go up again isn't it and i wanted to get a new one next year once i saved up enough ugh. guess my new build has to wait again

Honestly get a tablet if you wanna do work on a PC that isnt heavy duty.

Get a steamdeck or box whenever that comes out to play games.

Consoles are also going to see a price hike because of this.

WTF, everything was pretty reasonable, except GPUs, when I built my PC this time last year. I knew tarrifs were probably going to screw prices up, but this is still crazy to me.

Even with the increases, I'm sure I will find a nextgen gaming laptop in ~3 years that will be good for the generation.

My MSI GT72 was $2k with a 980m 8gb [$300 off] in 2014, the most I've spent. I don't expect it to be more and hopefully I can time a good clearance like I did with the current one in my sig [$1100, $500 off].

I'll just stick to old classics and indie games. Those stupid fuckers can go enjoy their overpriced, AI slop of a game.

AI is unironically ruining basically everything I take joy in outside of gardening and hiking, and I'm sure they'll find a way.
