We onto act 3 now and if the first enemy gauntlet is anything to go by, shits about to get real hard

I thought only two parts of act 3 were actually hard. Everything else was easy compared to the act 2 bosses.

Is that moth near the upper choral chambers for real? I spent 25 minutes pixel perfectly pogo jumping between FOUR SETS of buzz saws and that's the only way to get to him?

Goddamn
There's a fan beneath it. Have to break a hidden wall to start it.

moth?

I'm assuming they meant flea, since there's a flea in the same location that theoretically could require jumping past four sets of double fan blades, if you didn't know about the fan beneath the chamber that can be powered on to give you a straight shot to the top.

Got the alt Act 2 ending... That was brutal. I started to get so good at that fight, I was doing the first round damageless, but I'd just get brutalized by the 2nd part's massive RNG fest. Sometimes you'll simply just get patterns that are undodgeable. Couple that with the handicaps... oh boy

I was like this tempted to somehow grind out 9 HP because the fight was so brutal.

The double jump kinda makes this fight harder lol. It's pretty difficult to get the right height and hang there, which really fucks up the get to this part of the screen section and the constant side knives, which tbf can just be jumped over, but that requires timing

Honestly though, I actually didn't mind this as much as the other brutal fights. It was an RNG fest, and that sucked a lot, and the knife hitboxes are extremely inconsistent. I swear the game just decides whenever the needles become a hurtbox whenever the fuck it wants. Getting clipped sometimes fucks you but sometimes you can just walk over them. The glowing doesn't necessarily seem to very accurately correspond to when the hurtbox disappears. So not really a perfect boss battle, far from it. But still, it was a fight that has marked improvement in play, and also it just makes you realize how fucking easy the regular Act 2 boss is lmao

fuck my switch's battery is getting all screwy. hasn't held a charge for a long time so I have to play with it always plugged in. But now even plugged in the battery percentage jumps around at random and constantly tells me console battery low, charge console.

idk how much longer it'll last. I'll have to convince my wife I need to buy a switch 2 >_>

The RNG can be reduced somewhat by attacking the spikes she summons from the floor. A couple hits will drop the spikes giving you back the space needed to land your jumps safely. Doesn't necessarily help when multiple things are happening at the same time, but there are mitigating factors you can exploit. I'm personally dreading doing that fight too since I mostly beat the boss by simply outhealing the damage it could do. Same way I beat The Unravelled, lol. Some bosses don't attack often enough to beat Hornet just spamming attacks.

Huh... I had no idea you can break the spikes. I mean I saw they react to being hit but I thought it was like hitting any other projectile and doing nothing. Meanwhile, on the winning run, I was dealing with a large middle spike stretch that was basically not passable without the sling shot dash thing.

It definitely would've helped me. Some runs were ended by very bad spikes that I couldn't avoid

The other RNG that I forgot about in this fight, it was the side needles that were set up off-screen. They come too fast to react to where the safe spot is

But yes this boss is incredibly easy when you can heal. I think it only took me 2 tries in the regular run... and this run probably took about 15-20 tries somewhere in between

I did like half a dozen attempts with the infection and was dying well before hitting the second phase each time. Just gave up and figured I'd come back to that save later.

Then when I came back again to progress to Act 3 I beat her effortlessly. So yeah, healing and tool access make a massive difference.

And yeah, good to know about the spikes.

Beat Groal (not too bad if you farm the silk in the room before him), Conchfly, Chef, did the courier run and got that sweet damage upgrade.

Now I'm up to the infamous High Halls fight

Didn't know you could get that one flea in citadel in the vertical tunnel lined with saws with a fan, did it by pogo'ing and double jumping through that.

I found a way to cheese it without modding.

The Bilewater is you best friend. If you hug the corners in the water the platforms around you stop Groal from being able to reach you with any attack except for when he re-surfaces, which can be random- watch for the bubbles, and the occasional blow dart, so you can spam the fuck out of him with ranged poison tools.

Only tricky part is getting past the initial run back and enemy gauntlet in good shape.

Not really a clear indicator, but doing the Silk and Soul quest leads to Act 3. Leave that quest alone and you'll be fine.

The key to winning that fight is to know up slash can hit her without jumping (makes dodging the side needles easier and does more dmg faster), and that the side needles can be jumped with a single jump. Don't double jump as the double jump gives you the slightest height dip that will make you get hit. Once I started to dodge the needles with a single jump, I was getting hit much less.

When the spikes came on, before I knew they were destructible, I just kinda hung around lol. I didn't even go for an attack cuz I kept getting hit. I guess this is one of those annoying ass fights that require patience while the boss just throws the entire kitchen sink at you.

Went back to finish mapping out areas I hadn't fully explored yet. Realized that I had done nothing in the mountain. Went in and finished it up relatively quickly. Wasn't nearly as bad as I expected. Thank goodness I did, because then I went and got the swamp map.

Then it allowed me to access more citadel areas too. So I think I may be finally making progress again after being stuck on a required arena fight I can't win. lol
