Done with the first rec, here it is.

Adam Lambert - Trespassing (Mer)

I didn’t dig the title track much at all. I can’t stand stomp-clap rhythms , and I had pretty muh made my mind on the track before the vocals even came in. Listening through it got a bit better with the vocals, but I still didn’t enjoy the track much. A very different story with the second track. I was hooked by the groove pretty much instantly. This is the kind of pop that I love. It hits harder than a lot of club tracks I hear from house producers, and I’m not sure that I would be opposed to actually playing this track myself. Another really minor thing I love about the track is the way he says “Walk that walk like you don’t give a ****”. There is something I enjoy about how some people can drop f-bombs without making it sound dirty or forced. I think Lana Del Ray does the same thing in a few places on her album.

The next few songs bring the funk, and then there is another dud from Pharrell… "Kickin’ In". I don’t think I’ve ever enjoyed his productions, and despite what everyone thinks about The Neptunes, I’m not feeling it. I have nothing good to say about that track, so I won’t say anything at all. It gets back on track with the next song though.

...did he just say “Iceberg, just the tip” Damn. Literally had to rewind there.

The latter half of the album really slows things down. Not necessarily a bad thing, but out of the slower tracks, I think “Outlaws of Love” is the only one I really enjoy. The rest were just “alright”.

All things considered, a decent album. It didn’t blow me away, mostly due to the fact that I really don’t like either of the Pharrell produced tracks… I think the tracks produced by Josh Abraham and Oligee are the stars of the album and it was definitely a pleasant listen, although I’m not sure that I would listen to it start to finish again… I’d be more inclined to just listen to my favourite tracks.

So I have asked this board for some music recs before... Once was about 4 years ago and it went fantastically, showing me some bands who are still among my favourite groups today. I mean some of those albums became the soundtrack to my life in the next years and there are some seasons that I associate with those albums. All in all, great stuff and I thank you all for that. The other time (last year) went terribly and I'm not sure I listened to any of the albums more than once.

Well it's another summer, and it's time for me to try this again. The rules are simple. You only get one artist, and you can either post three select songs, or one album that I will listen to and then talk about. I'd honestly prefer if you just gave the me songs (you can also post less if you'd like), but I understand that some artists require an entire album for you "get it" and sometimes even a collection of singles isn't enough to give you a good picture of their overall sound.

I will only take 25 artists before closing suggestions.

If you name an artist that I already know or have listened to extensively, I'll just let you know and you can name another.

Here is my last.fm to give you an idea of what I'm into... although I can honestly say that genre isn't really an issue at all.

http://www.last.fm/user/thundersheep

Oh yeah, and ratings. No number ratings because I think they're stupid, but detailed writeups will be given.

First of all, I don't think the show is as bad as everyone makes it out to be. I'll admit the storylines are absolutely terrible, but the jokes themselves aren't much worse than the first few seasons. I mean they're worse... but there is still a ton of good stuff in there.

There have been many problems with the last few seasons, and I think most of it is the result of stuff happening outside of The Office... Notably Ed Helms and Craig Robinson getting some big movies and becoming names themselves. It seems like after they found success outside, the writers decided to give them more prominent roles in the show, and it really threw off the balance.

Andy should never have been manager. When Michael left it made sense to not have Jim or Dwight take over his position because it would just be weird to have them acting in a superior role within the office and the same thing goes for Andy, except he's also kinda dumb.

The romance between Andy and Erin is honestly painful to watch and it really makes me hate the show. I don't want to rant, so I'll just say that Erin is a really dumb character and the only one I can honestly say I would prefer the show without.

Darryl isn't that bad on his own, but his arcs are really stupid and unfunny. I think he was better as a minor character.

There is some good in the newer stuff though, mostly in the form on James Spader. I don't know what the consensus is on Robert California, but I think he was the best part of the newest season. All the characters on the show are a little messed up, but I think Robert has just the right amount of normal mixed in with his crazy to create a great character.

...I just realized that I'm far too bored to continue writing this, so I'll just add that Toby was by far the funniest in season 8 and it was really weird that they axed Cathy without saying anything about it.

Just from what I heard, Album Mix probably goes about... 15 spaces lower, more or less. Not sure where it began or ended, but it didn't sound as good. And I'm not talking about just the lyrics. There were less of those nice dips in and out of trance.

Aye, the first couple minutes play on top of the previous song... They both have literally the exact same structure with the difference being the vocals. Different strokes I guess. I really do hate the club mix, but I shouldn't be surprised that some people enjoy it more.

When I first played the game, Frog's Theme was probably my favourite track... Along with Wind Scene it just seemed so much better than the rest of the soundtrack. But on subsequent playthroughs I discovered that pretty much every tune is great, and my opinion of Frog's Theme has been falling steadily since the beginning. Tyran Castle is one of the themes I fell in love with on my last experience with the game on the DS... and I have to admit it was an easy win.

Other matches were all pretty easy for me this time as well.

Artist: Alex O'Rion

Nominated by thundersheep
- Album Mix was taken down and there wasn't another link, so I'm going with Club Mix. Let me know how different they are. I like it well enough.

In all honesty, I think they're completely different. I mean the production is the same, but there are no vocals in the album mix, and I can't stand the vocals that were added to this song. I've literally only listened to the Club Mix twice because I just find it kind of terrible compared to other vocal tracks, while I think the Album Version might be my favourite song in the last few years. I think the vocals just take away from the beauty that is the lead melody. Since my album link is blocked in "some countries" according to Youtube... I guess the only way for me to show you would be to post this mix.

http://soundcloud.com/thundersheep/summer-rain

Starts at about 42:00. I guess this works better since I've always felt that club music should only be listened to in mixed form... and I get a chance to plug my own stuff.

Was a good run though. I knew I was taking a chance by not posting anything without a 4/4 beat, and my main goal was basically to get you to listen to some trance and see what you thought of it. I'm always eager to hear what people who aren't into the genre think of it.

Honestly this might be a deal breaker for the idea I've been toying with of moving to America eventually.

That's the main reason I find it weird. Almost any place that sells gravy will make you a Poutine in Canada. DQ, KFC, Burger King, etc. It just seems so easy, and I can't see Americans not liking the stuff. I understand how there are certain franchises that never cross the border, but fries and gravy not being a thing over there just seems odd. I'm gonna have to assume it's just because it's French.

I meant that it seemed like a spoiler because it doesn't seem like we're supposed to know if they were the Stark boys or not. But reading on it sounds like Realo hasn't read the books either. It just read it at first and assumed he already knew what would be revealed in the next episode. Do we have to vote for them all? I've had so much fun voting in this up until now. These songs both mean too much to me. Wind Scene is where the game "clicked" for me. As I've probably said a million times before, I went into Chrono Trigger knowing NOTHING about the game. I only found it because I was really into DBZ at the time (2001ish) and while looking for SNES ROMs for DBZ games I always ran across CT because Toriyama did the art... I got it without doing any research whatsoever and my mind was just completely blown when I discovered it was a game about time travel, which is pretty much my favourite "idea" for anything. To cap it off it was an amazing game and it wasn't until I was nearly finished that I found out people not only knew about this game, but that it was thought of as one of the best ever. Every time I hear that tune it just reminds me of my first time playing what would become my favourite game of all-time.

And Robo's Theme is a completely different story. My admiration for the theme has nothing to do with the character (I love them all) and more due to this OCREmix.

I was listening to it on repeat when... actually it's probably better that I don't talk about this. But a good (and stupid) memory nonetheless. I think I'll pass on this one.

-5-

Oh, and 13 for the tiebreaker. It might be my favourite in the entire game.

I'm genuinely surprised that no ultra-rich Quebecois have ever thought of creating some "New York Fries" type of franchise to sell Poutine in the US.

Huh... Romance is dead. I thought that would be the one to last the longest. I honestly don't even remember what my last track was. Going to be a double surprise when I get knocked out. I get that comment from a lot of people with trance music though, that it's something they like having on in the background while writing and such, but it's not something they would dedicate time listening to... Which I can understand but do not agree with in the least. I love the genre so much that if I try to listen to it while writing an essay or something, I get distracted and want to stop everything and just listen.

I really hope I picked something with vocals for my last one...

I feel terrible for anyone who is used Taco Bell and such garbage to judge a burrito. There is another pretty good place called Red Burrito up here, not sure how common they are outside of Vancouver.

Chinese fast food is generally nothing special, and fast food sushi is pretty much never worth buying.

Edit: Oh, completely forgot about Korean. I've never had it myself, but the Korean places in the food courts around here look legit. I guess between them and the Japanese there is some pretty good stuff in the Asian category.

I guess so. I only played Awakening once so I wasn't really sure how differently things could turn out during the end.

I've actually read that the Leliana bit is a legit bug though... she was supposed to act differently depending on whether you recruited her, didn't recruit her, romanced her, or let her die.. yet the game always treats it as if you recruited her and she lives. Not sure what the sources are for that though, just read it on the Wiki.

Let's say a Bugatti Veyron costs $2 million dollars. Another company makes a car that is superior in every conceivable way and sells it for 1.5 million dollars. Regardless of whether or not you think that is way too much to pay for a car, the person buying it is getting a bargain because they will not find something of that quality for that low of a price anywhere else.

Oh hey, I just finished the Limestone Cavern too. Scrapping the idea of a playthrough topic though. While I was playing, I totally remembered why I hate doing those things... it makes gaming feel like a chore. Because I know that I can have some fun sitting down and playing it, but then I'll have to sit down at the computer for a while and type out my thoughts on everything. I'd much rather prefer some kind of... General LoD Discussion Topic where I could just post random thoughts and jokes as interesting things happen. I love reading people's playthroughs, but it's just too much pressure for me.

I'm generally too lazy to follow through with playthrough topics and they always end up purging, but I might as well make an attempt on this one just out of respect. Was the first game I ever played on my PS1. Time to see how it holds up.

I just got bored with Skyrim, so now is a good a time as any to start.

One of the only things I remember about this game is the fact that they take the "timed hit" system and make it completely unbearable.

You're trying to do a NORMAL ATTACK?

Okay press X
Now Square
Don't press anything at this part or you will be MESS UP.
Now Triangle

EVERY TIME YOU WANT TO ATTACK. Oh you don't want to deal with all the BULL**** involved with normal attacks? Wear this accessory but it will cut your damage to useless levels.

That is literally the first thing I think of when it comes to this game. Maybe it isn't as bad as I'm remembering and it deserves another shot, but I am incredibly wary.

I didn't even understand the Addition system until at least halfway through disc 2... maybe disc 3 (there were 4 right?). I thought that X was the only button to press.. so I could do all the two-button additions, but always messed up as soon as the variations came. Once I figured out how they actually worked, I loved the hell out of it.

No. Just... No.

You could MAYBE argue that it was reasonably priced for what it did, and using Netflix isn't a good example, since much, much cheaper options do stuff like that.

But to say it was a BARGAIN... No. You can't say that no matter how you twist it.

Blu-Ray players cost $1000. If all it did was play Blu-Rays (It's still one of the best Blu-Ray players today) it would still be a bargain.

Aye. I haven't started playing it again yet, but I absolutely cannot wait to start it up. Since nobody ever talks about the game, I'm pretty sure I haven't heard any of the music since playing it for the first time... I'm sure I've forgotten the entire story except for the main plot points as well. Going to be a fun nostalgia trip...

I first found porn when... I freakin' can't remember, how the hell can all of you!?

Aren't you like 17? I'd have to assume that porn is just so easy to find these days that it wasn't a big enough deal to remember when you first saw it. The first time finding an old magazine as a kid generally sticks with you.

You're not aware of how much a Blu-Ray player cost in 2006 are you?

Don't charge $600 for a console and call it a bargain. It makes your company look like foolish idiots. The most expensive car on the lot does not advertise its great price.

How quickly we forget...

http://www.1up.com/news/hey-ps3-computer-game-system

They literally said that it is not a game console months before release, and I remember people here going crazy saying that games are the only reason people will buy a PS3. Now you look at your friend's lists and everyone is watching Netflix. If it just played games, yeah $600 would be ridiculous. But for what it could do at the time, it was a bargain.

reminds me of how I first found porn: by searching for dragon ball z

The first porn I found was behind a dumpster... but I know that I discovered hentai by searching for Digimon pics on Morpheus.

The company turned into a joke by trying to charge $600 for a console. Even worse was Kaz Hirai and other braindead Sony idiots calling that **** a bargain.
