In the film A Few Good Men, Demi Moore's character uses the phrase in an objection, and then it's pointed out that it's a meaningless phrase that only serves to make them look bad to the court. The purpose is to highlight how inexperienced she is as a trial lawyer, which makes it completely hilarious that these Trump lawyers are using it now.

Damn, now I feel silly, I wish I'd caught that (for some reason I've only ever seen the latter half of AFGM). Thanks for the explanation.

It was all done in service to being the shocking turning point of the series. I don't think it was particularly masterful writing either, but it had to be something that jerked Harry + a likeable sacrificial lamb (and by extension the reader) out of the relative comfort of wizard-school shenanigans and into shit-just-got-real-ville; the end result was bound to be convoluted.

The post-game stuff after beating the Final Boss is clearly non-canon. You go back to the real world and Ivalice ceases to exist.

"Uhh, yeah Doned, you caught me, I'm still going to Ivalice to have fun and fart around with magic powers, but, umm...it's non-canon, so it doesn't count!"

Non-canon would be a more believable excuse if the postgame content was completely detached from the plot of the main game, or if Mewt and Doned were still around; but it specifically calls attention to the fact that Marche is still in Ivalice while Mewt is not via a short questline with Babus.

DP1 was the first feature-length comedy in close to a decade that had me rolling throughout, so it had a very special place in my heart. DP2 started off on the worst foot possible with the 'kill off the love interest at the start of the sequel' trope and patting themselves on the back for it in the opening credits; rest of the movie was hilarious and on-par with the original, and obviously they did undo Vanessa's death in the credits scene, but it was really hard to get that sour taste out of my mouth.

But it still annoys me to no end that people are so starved for good live-action Venom content that they accept those trash ass movies.

Based on my anecdotal experience, I don't think it was Venom / comic book fans who propelled Venom to smash hit status. It had the benefit of coming out at just the right time to be an antidote to the 'you have to keep track of 20 different movies' MCU by being an obvious one-off 'check your brain at the door' action flick / CGI spectacle. Plus there's a lot of people who looooove Tom Hardy; I guarantee the movie would've flopped if it hadn't been a vehicle for him to go nuts doing a two-hour Dunkey impression.

The Depths then got reaaaally tedious even by my standards. But once I figured out that all the lightroots corresponded to a shrine on the surface, I took an afternoon and speedran discovering the rest. There were still a couple surprises - seeing a Colgera rematch appear out of the darkness was fun. So my opinion of the Depths ended up being overall positive.
