There is always more safety in groups than there is trying to go alone. That is why both capitalism and fascism work so hard to isolate the individual from others.

My advice to her would be buying a weapon, learning to use it, and organizing with the local LGBTQ community and others likely to be targeted by chuds/the state for violence for mutual aid and defense.

I'm definitely buying a gun for self-defence purposes at least.

I'm sorry that Texas is so awful to its people out of perceived electoral advantage, indifference, and hatred. All red states have a plan of making their states so intolerable that all minorities, liberals, and leftists are forced to leave, making their states into red fiefdoms forever.

Which will also cause a brain drain, and make them even worse off economically than they already are.

No, most of them know full well that this will happen. The point isnt to protect women, its to make trans people feel unsafe and unwelcome. Forcing trans men into the womens room accomplishes that.

Both the UK and Japan shifted toward the center from the right in their most recent elections. Poland also shifted to the left in their last election. Anger at incumbents shouldn't be confused for an actual shift to the far right, especially in Western Europe where they have stupidly allowed the far right to be the only place populist opposition to immigration can exist.

The UK had only three right-wing parties to choose from. Labour has shifted hard to the right after Corbyn. And Labour actually got a smaller number of votes than in previous elections, only winning because the right was split between Reform and Conservative.

My husband is Mexican, and I've spent a lot of time there. Cartels having significant control over the government is true, not propaganda, unfortunately.

Mass deportation will instantly become one of the most hated things in American history if it's implemented. People have this belief people only here to work will be immune and there's large swaths of vicious criminals roving "Out There" who need to be deported.

In reality, people are gonna see their communities upended, watch their friends and families taken, people in their neighborhoods and everyone's gonna hear stories of folks who've been here for years without incident sent to Mexico, Guatemala, El Salvador and so forth.

You are too optimistic. At most, people will whine and do nothing, and then reward the GOP with more votes for implementing it come election time.

The average American is very lazy and self-focused, they will sit back and allow this to happen if they personally aren't harmed. It's a sad fact, but most people aren't truly against fascism. Most people in Nazi Germany sat back and let it happen too. America is not unique, it will be no different.

I'm thinking of a scenario where either Trump tries to remain in office after his second term (if alive), or blue states simply refusing to comply with Trump's orders on certain matters. Could either of these escalate into another civil war?

As a trans woman in Texas, I do not have much hope for my future.

Even if they found that Harris was the legitimate winner (which I don't believe), trying to declare such at this point would honestly probably lead to a civil war.
