Harris ran on abortion, ending price gouging and giving people money. It didn't matter.

Harris could not possibly have pivoted more to the right than she did. She brought in Dick fucking Cheney, and it didn't work. They need to try actually being left-wing, and providing a left-wing alternative to fascism.

Democrats will be painted as far left extremists no matter what they do. They had Dick Cheney on their side, and were still painted as far left. Trying to go to the right loses actual leftist votes while not picking up any moderates because Democrats are always going to be portrayed as being extremists. Might as well try actually going to the left at this point.

If Trump is as bad as we're predicting, and he does usher in fascist theocracy, will we, in hindsight, say that the Democrats should have done something to prevent this while they had the chance? Or will say they did the right thing by allowing the democratic process to play out, even if, paradoxically, it meant the end of democracy?

I'm trans and my partner is Latino, I will never see any Trump voters as fellow Americans or respect them. They all voted to make my life unlivable, fuck them all

Fuck no, those are not the results of Joe Bidens actions. Those are the actions of millions who oppose their neighbors. Early drop or staying could have worked out either way. Joe Biden was a Democrat president who did his job. The Cult of Donald Trump is completely unpredictable and not in touch with the actual work Biden did while in office.

If Biden had dropped out early, we could have held an actual primary, and run a candidate who could distance themselves from his administration

Fuck no, Joe Biden did a lot for me in his last year in office. He DID step aside after consultation, because as fucking President of the United States, you don't just walk off, you actually take time to consider the consequences of your actions.

And the consequences of his actions were condemning the country to becoming a fascist theocracy.

So people turn to the fascist alternative, which unlike socialism, is accepted by capital.

This. You do not beat your enemies by using their tactics, you'd just become the same thing they represent. As much as it pisses people off you HAVE to be the better man.

Being the better man is what got us fascism in the first place though. If I die or get put into a camp, that isn't going to give me much solace.

It is difficult, because if fascism does arrive from this, then in hindsight we will say that we should have done a Jan 6th of our own to prevent it. But we can't see the future, so we don't know at this moment if it will be necessary.

The worse is that it was very obviously Trump's policies and his handling off the pandemic that caused the inflation that they blame Biden and by extension Harris for and nearly every expert predicts if Trump does what he said he will do in a second term that inflation will rise again. Americans are not bright.

Since he won the popular vote this time, we, as a nation, deserve the consequences.

They wanted economic change, and were too stupid to look into the kind of economic change Trump is promising to deliver. That's all there is to it.

If anyone tried using this against him, it would go to the right-wing Supreme Court, who have already shown they will let him do what he likes.
