This is all true but there are definitely people who just enjoy violence for its own sake. Ive met quite a few people who simply enjoy asserting themselves over others or making other people suffer. I do admit the system turned out to be a lot more reasonable and nuanced than I thought it would be. Literally every single person I've met across multiple offender counseling groups has been very insightful about their problems, how they led to their offending and how to address their problems and move on with their lives. I've learned a lot about things like how your attachment style forms, CBT therapy and the like. And it wasn't that violent "shitbags" are exceedingly rare, it's that the psychologists I've spoken to have very rarely encountered someone who is a "lost cause" so to speak. --- "How is that a religious topic? I guess it's supposed to be similar to the law that abandoned property can become yours if not claimed within a certain amount of time, and the idea is that if someone manages to squat on your property for so long without you calling the cops or even noticing you're essentially "surrendering" it to them. How would you prove the hours you worked for said normal paystub? What about small business owners whose absence could cause a whole store to be shut down?
