Arcades will never, ever be a thing ever again. If your vision happens, its going to be servers in data centers hosting the game and doing the heavy lifting for gamers to connect as clients from their homes. But that isnt likely either. Corporations have more profitable shit to be doing with that hardware, like machine learning.

A while back people figured out how to manipulate the RNG for generating chalice dungeons and found/forced one that's extremely high level but has an enemy near the lamp that dies as soon as you spawn, so you get a ton of blood echoes for 0 effort.

Id maybe consider it, but with a Pure Bloodtinge build it wouldnt help at all anyway as you dont get a weapon that scales off Bloodtinge til you beat the boss at Cainhurst, and believe me its a bitch to beat that many bosses without your offensive stat helping you at all. Funny thing about the low level run (not natural magic, though) of FF6 is that it's usually something done specifically with the purpose of becoming more OP later on through level-up stat bonuses, which you either don't get or get less of if you get level ups earlier in the game. At least, that was the only reason why I ever tried playing that game LLG style.

Exactly. Thats my pet peeve with 6 and 8. 8 is piss easy if you do this, 6 is actually hard. A LLG is fun in 6 for the sake of it, but its going to be frustrating at certain points.

It depends on what it is, but in general, yes.
I tend to avoid glitches (though I will sometimes dupe in a game thats very stingy with items or money) or anything that cant be done legitimately, but I dont really have issues time saving at times. In general I will become as OP as I can without cheating because it makes me feel smart to break a game.

For instance, Ive tried to play through Witcher 1 modded a few times. On my first couple playthroughs, I spent hours playing Dice Poker to give myself like 15,000 Orens. On my most recent one, I just edited my save to give myself 15,000 Orens and said I played Dice Poker for hours. I dont see it as cheating because it can legitimately be done and I did it twice. I see it as saving time.

The Famicom version has no port. It's the only one to have never been ported. FF2 & 5 first got ported on PS1. New graphics but the game mechanics were still the original famicom.

The DS FF3 gave you party of weird OCs like Luneth instead of the onion knights on top of the fact that they changed a ton of shit.

No port of a Famicom FF game has ever been exactly the same as the Famicom version (its always better, way less tedious, way less grindy, etc.).

If thats your threshold for a new game, fine whatever. SE really didnt have to do any more work on that one than they did all the others, as they cleaned up the script / translation in all of them. 5 is superior to 3 in every way too, and we did get that.

How many non-remaster non-remake games has SE done with any form of turn-based combat since FFX?
FFXII was basically a single player MMO with an awful shoehorned protagonist that wasnt meant to exist at all, but it was still ATB.
FFXIII series was ATB, but they didnt sell like shit because of that, they sold like shit because they were bad games for numerous other reasons.
Dragon Quest games still are, but XII is rumored to be action.
One Piece Odyssey was made by the DQXI team but I cant remember if SE published / developed it.
Theres the Bravely Default series, the Octopath Traveler series, and Im struggling to think of much else.

Im asspullimg figures here, but lets say that after covering production / server maintenance costs and the retailers 30% cut, they profit $20 per sale as a hypothetical.

A game that cost $5m to make and sold a million copies would mean a profit of $15m. A game that cost $300m to make and sold 15.5 million copies would mean a profit of $10m.

I expect:

• Doubling down on AAA tech demos with massive budgets that require selling millions of copies to even break even
• Stopping or heavily reducing the cheap games that actually make a profit, such as Octopath Traveler, Triangle Strategy, etc.

Gotta have (real amounts of) money/credit to make money credit too. This place my family moved into does kinda fucking suck now. The first year they raised the rent 8 bucks. Who cares wow that's like one less fancy hamburger. Now they've been raising the rent 30 to 40 every year. They'll probably raise it even more in May.

On another note - what's a clear perk of owning a house compared to an apartment? seems to me you can complain to the owner if anything goes tits up as you pay the rent, but something will wreck in your home, and it's on you to fix it.

Renting is basically setting your money on fire. When you buy a home, its an investment that grows in value over time, and if you ever move, you can sell it and get enough money to buy another home. If you pay a mortgage for decades, you own it free and clear and its an asset. If you pay rent for several decades, youll have nothing to show for it whatsoever.

Not to mention a mortgage payment is typically cheaper than rent to boot.

This. Im a PC gamer with over 1000 Steam games, and this shit is so obvious. Normies dont even know what a driver is, much less what hardware is in their computers versus a list of system requirements. If someone sets up a PC for them with top of the line hardware, hooks it to their TV, and puts it in Steam Big Picture mode, it basically functions as a console in that instance, but thats not how most PCs are used. They require you to rub a few brain cells together and learn a few things.

PCs are simply too capable to be dedicated anything unless you build one for a specific purpose, like a server, or a home theater PC, but in that case, you know what youre doing and its irrelevant whether its dedicated or not.

No it isnt. Xbox and PS can play DVDs and Blu-Rays to this day. They can also do Netflix and shit, but thats not what theyre for. The purpose of a console is to play games. The purpose of a PC is to do whatever the hell you want to do better than a console could ever do any of it. But the tradeoff there is that you lose that dedicated simplicity for flexibility.

The Steam Deck is purposefully designed and built to be a gaming device right down to the OS, where you can do all the tinkering and tweaking etc. with a controller right in the main UI. Thats why it qualifies and anything where you go through Windows (or desktop Linux for that matter) doesnt and never will.

That would be nice. I moved back in with my parents in late 2016 when my getting fired happened to coincide with my mother having a terrible wreck. Im still living with them. But I was born legally blind, so I cant drive without technological aid (and Im working on that, but its a process). So its a symbiotic relationship where Im physically dependent on them to get around but theyre financially dependent on me to make ends meet.

I make a good living (not six figures, but close), so I could afford to live alone, but it makes no sense without being able to drive, so Id rather just save for a down payment on a home. The government also slapped us with a $50K debt due to a clerical error they made in 2012. Im 37 now, so way behind, but as said, life isnt fair.
