Im not sure I ever really notice. If you gave me two versions of the same game at 30 and 60, it would probably be noticeable, but its not something I really think about going fresh into a game if the frame rate is stable.

Yeah, if you handed me a controller and said "This one is 30" then handed me another and said "This on is 60" I could probably tell the difference. But I would never pass the FPS Pepsi Challenge.

I have never once even noticed the framerate of a game. Gun to my head I can barely tell the difference side by side.

You do at least have a number of sci-fi subgenres though. Space Fantasy and robotic uprising/utopia are common ones, but so are cyberpunk, monsters/aliens, biohazards, doomsday devices and deep sea exploration.

Thoes are all just variants on "future stuff". Scifi is almost always built on the foundation of current earth cultures and technologies and then picking one thing to change. Fantasy world are completely new worlds so they often use the foundation of "past stuff" as a foundation to build the world on. Criticizing fantasy for having castles and horses is like criticizing scifi for having skyscrapers and cars. And, although there are a million different ways magic has been done, it's one of the core pillars of fantasy. Fantasy without magic is like scifi without sci.

When I would run on the treadmill I would usually ramp up slowly and do it in 9 minutes. Could bump it down to at least 8 if I was trying for speed.

Just got back from there. Went to the movies. Generally it's pretty cool to see, especially at night, but I wouldn't make it a point to go down there for anything. Definitely worth checking out if you're in the city though.

i just now finally caught up with most of the mcu shows. and i still haven't fully seen moon knight, beyond the first episode which really bored the hell out of me. and like people said, there's no payoff. there's no reason i even watched the shows.

daredevil is cool as hell, and they know it by putting him and kingpin in like three of the shows. but they barely used daredevil, didn't give him a show until later, and focused instead on a whole handful of characters i would never care about. echo? i saw the show and i still don't know why, other than to hype myself for daredevil.

the shows were too much for no reason. there's no endgame (lol) there. it's just too much for no gain.

It really feels like they rushed them all out the door at once and kept up a steady stream of them to keep people engaged but didn't really have plans for most of them beyond that. They're like reverse backdoor pilots.

On the other hand... They're talking about "more avengers" in 2026. Look, it's been 5 years since Endgame. They've MORE than spent their "we need to build back up like phase one" token, by now. And there is NOTHING to care about, anymore. Cap amd Tony were the heart of the team, and there's still no good replacement for them. Thor's fucked off to do his own thing, the Guardians have split up, and Gamora still doesn't give a shit since she was replaced, spider man deleted himself from everyone's mind, Dr strange was barely a member in the first place, and has ALSO fucked off to do his own thing, Captain Marvel is a charisma vacuum who does not give a single shit about anyone else on the team... like, there IS no "Avengers" anymore, and what they have isn't nearly cohesive enough to stand next to the original group, even in their first movie.

To say nothing about how directionless it all feels. Kang was a flop, and now They're pivoting to Galactus, it looks like. Phase 4 was a bunch of pointless, disconnected character pieces that fizzled out without a capstone movie. Half the movies ended major character arcs, dissolved groups, etc. and replaced them with nothing, so there's nothing left to be invested in. It's clear they were banking on people resonating with Captain Marvel and The Marvels so they'd be the new "heart and soul" of the group... but that didn't happen.

Now they have three (?) Movies to pull it all together and make it work? Yeah, I REALLY don't see that happening.
Series should have ended with Endgame.

Whenever people say stuff like this I just have to assume they have completely forgotten about everything pre phase 3. There was never a driving force or connection between every movie. Every character fucks off at the end of every movie. Every Avengers movie is about building the team up or struggling to integrate new members. I don't know what movies people watched before when they say that phases 4 and 5 are disconnected when damn near every movie is a team up or sets up a future plotline. There's less fluff now than ever before.

I guess he felt the need to say they're continuing standard movie release schedule just to draw attention away from the shows, which are the real issue. Most of the shows are overall decent but they definitely flooded the market with them way too fast.

For the people complaining about BOTW: weapons breaking was a huge point of the entire combat system. There are so many tools and systems in the game they wanted you to engage with rather than just running around swinging a sword at everyone. And potentially getting caught empty handed so you had to think of some crazy shit on the fly is the whole point.

Agreed. Fallout 3 was the first RPG I ever played and one of the first properly huge games and the minimal amount of effort you had to put into keeping your weapons fixed up really added to the game. It's a good anchor because, mechanically it gives you a reason to hoover up any enemy weapons you and find and to keep an eye on the ones you have, and also fits well into the world itself where everything is hostile and shitty. Even if you don't like the mechanic it takes up so little time and effort I couldn't imagine complaining about it.

All they do is waste your time making giant maps full of nothing where most of your time is spent traveling.

Carefully constructed worlds and environments where you can encounter lots of different things in a compact space is king! I don't know why ever since 3D was invented people have the obsession with making massive worlds. Simply just having a big world isn't better. Banjo Kazooie, Dark Souls, Outer Wilds are all great examples of well-constructed worlds focused on the spectacle of their individual designs.

I agree the ubisoft pattern is out of hand but large maps are still a valid design choice, just for a different kind of game. Like Bethesda RPGs or Farcry 2 are supposed to be about being thrown into a giant hostile alien environment.

That doesn't seem like the real him. He loves to speak his mind but I've never seen him that outwardly disrespectful of something. That said, it's right. It's a pretty weak movie only held up because there was nothing else like it at the time, and now, pure nostalgia.

BG3. It's a mountainous game but I think with the proper mods, and skipping almost everything I could get her through it.

I think people still have an old fashion view of comics and don't see going down to a shop to drop money on a single issue as worth it. I don't think people are aware that you can get a digital subscription and just read whatever you want. They also view comics as massive long running things like Spider-Man and can't get past the barrier of entry. Comics don't have big traditional marketing campaigns like movies so people don't even know about smaller comics. All of this is compounded for kids. Unless they're actively seeking stuff out or have a friend that read something, they just aren't going to know about anything. Also, something something dropping attention spans.

Those kind are pretty cool but I prefer traditional coasters.

My mom made me do cub scouts and swimming but I quit swimming after two years because I didn't like it. She also tried to surprise me by just putting me in the van one night and taking me to join a basketball team. I told her to take me right home. I still don't know why she thought I wanted to play basketball. Got into sports on my own in middle school.

That's the part where you can't look for in universe reasoning. That whole plot is just a big meta joke. They were trying to get a new Jurassic Park off the ground for years but the executives kept shooting it down because they didn't think anyone wanted to see a rinky dink dinosaur movie. At one point they got really far pitching an idea for dinosaur human hybrid soldiers. So this is just a big punchline about how the Suits don't think motherfucking dinosaurs are magical enough for people, and I think it's hilarious.

The original three movies don't feel close to each other. People need to stop worrying about legacy so much and just enjoy things. The fact that there are no other dinosaur movies to even watch is a mortal sin so why complain when we do get some if they're kind of dumb? Dominion wasn't great but the other two are absolute blasts to watch.

The third one really is the executives hitting the nostalgia pipe but the other two feel like someone said "we've got an infinite budget to do whatever we want. Let's see what crazy shit we can come up with to shake up the formula". The first one especially felt like it was storyboarded by a child playing with action figures and it is one of the best theater experiences I've ever had because I was that child when the old movies were coming out.

If we collectively keep Root beer, Dr. Pepper is superfluous. Never heard of big red but it sounds good.
