Cloud does have access to both "Kill" and "Stop" spells, as well as ways to banish Wolverine to another dimension. I think teleporting your opponent to an empty dimension is a "win" even if Wolverine doesn't die.

Cloud could also cast "Petrify" or turn Wolverine into a Frog and then just put him in a jar and keep him there forever.

Wolverine would easily count as a boss fight; thus in true FF fashion, he'd be immune to most if not all status ailments and insta-death effects.

Probably one of those super-SOLDIERS introduced in Advent Children and onward that most of us would rather forget about.

It was pretty brilliant in hindsight. A prolonged prerelease window would've left more players cogitating over the question "do I really want to pay full price for a shinier version of a 20-year-old Bethesda RPG with all the old bugs and some new bugs as well?"

Meh, I bought a $10 RCA adapter, plugged my good ol' SNES into my modern smart TV, and played through Chrono Trigger a couple weeks ago without any real complaints about the graphics.

Those games are never going to look as impressive as they were when I was a kid because we now have 30 years of graphical improvement weighing against it, so as long as they're functional and the colors aren't far off then I'm good with it.

Of course the eternal caveat of 'separate the art from the artist' is how much a creator's bigoted / offensive views actually bleed into the art itself. IH certainly isn't going overt with it - otherwise this wouldn't even be open for discussion - but he does have the means to subtly nudge his viewers towards his personal way of thinking through the stories he chooses to tell and how he presents them.

One of the things that always struck me as peculiar about his vids (even before the scandal broke) was that, when it came to the subjects of his vids, no demographic got the benefit of the doubt more than white males. Tumblrinas and furries host their respective failed conventions and possibly pocket some of the funds? Let's all point and laugh at these degenerates! A televangelist bilks saps out of millions and ruins dozens of lives with his failed doomsday prophecies? Now now, let's remember he was a flawed man who truly believed in what he was preaching, probably. A woman has a steamy affair with a disgraced cruise line captain? Let's hyper-analyze all the instances of her being a complete idiot! A lunatic steals a limo, drives it backwards down the Las Vegas strip, and holds a plane hostage with a bomb threat? This man is my personal hero! (Yes, I know this one was probably a joke, but dammit I had another prime example to put here when I thought about this earlier but I can't for the life of me remember it atm).

Obviously this isn't across the board - Billy McFarland certainly didn't get any sympathy in the Fyre Festival vid - and assuming they were depicted fairly and accurately, the vindications of such people as Sean Murray and the Balloon Boy's father can hardly be considered bad things. But by the time the Man in Cave vid came out and IH more than once went out of his way to handwave the behavior of Floyd Collins' father, it had definitely become a pattern.

Well, I encountered the 'bad' ending. Looked up where to find the five villagers I missed because my patience was ready to snap and I wasn't in the mood to scour the entire game world on my own (good thing I did too, never would've found the breakable wall behind the waterfall on my own).

Yes, but mostly for its historical propriety. There's rarely been a time in my life where I thought about playing the original SMB and wouldn't rather play 2, 3, or World instead.

I used to adore Maxim, Stuff, etc in their prime years of late 90's / early 00's. But Maxim really fell off a cliff around 2005 or so; articles were soulless, they couldn't get an interview with Megan Fox so they instead wrote this weird 2-page love letter to her, and had like a whole page devoted to creepy tabloid shots of Lindsay Lohan; old Maxim never stooped to any of that crap.

I honestly don't remember Maxim doing anything as mean-spirited as a "Top Un-Sexiest Women" during their prime years. In fact one of the best things about it was that, past all the beer-and-tits chauvenistic veneer, it put a lot of effort into clueing its readers into how to talk to and treat women at the time, and well as providing womens' down-to-earth perspective on sex and other issues. When it was at its best I always imagined Maxim as a male version of Cosmo.

Stuff, on the other hand - even in their best years they did often have a very mean undercurrent (not surprising since they were helmed by Greg Gutfeld at the time).

Sure enough, I died on the 3rd phase of the crab boss, thus beginning my constant abuse of the rewind feature. Screw having to start a fight all over just because I misread one of a boss's half-dozen attack patterns.

Someone eariler mentioned the impressiveness of the bosses (which I still see, even though the graphics are dated at this point, and a full-size tv screen doesn't do the visuals any favors); between that and the frankly ridiculous amount of attack patterns present in most of them, I'm guessing the devs were so proud of these behemoths that they made them extra-tough to force players to spend more time with them.

Anyway, thanks to shameless abuse of the rewind feature I'm trucking right along. Ended last night at the mountain pass beyond the Giant's Dwelling or whatever it's called. I almost gave up for good in the foggy forest with those fucking Gravediggers, but thankfully I read somewhere that you can just...jump over them. I'm so used to that not being a viable option to avoid tough enemies in a metroidvania (at least not without tanking 1-2 hits) that I'd never ever considered that.

I tried watching one of his new releases after the plagiarism scandal and had the same reaction. IIRC it was some video that touched on a bunch of different classical art and ended with a retelling of something incredibly basic, like Homer's Odyssey. I was like "dude I know Homer's Odyssey, everyone on the planet knows Homer's Odyssey, why are you wasting time on this?" Would've been a different case if he'd put a super- funny or creative spin on it, but it just...wasn't. Shine was officially off the apple at that point.

I'm a big Eagles fan, love them but I think I might like some of the Joe Walsh non Eagles stuff even more. Life's Been Good is such an amazing song. Rocky Mountain Way and Funk #49 are pretty awesome too.

I concur, Joe Walsh is a boss, such a unique voice. I loved him in college then just kinda forgot about him for years. Then awhile back he did a rendition of "While My Guitar Gently Weeps" for a Beatles tribute show that I absolutely loved:

Yoda was my favorite character in Star Wars (arguably still is, though damned if Kleya didn't come out of nowhere recently to give him a run for his money), and while it's a marvel to see the wizardry that puppetry artists can do, there'll always be limits to it. Getting to see a fully-articulated CGI Yoda who could move his lips, furrow his brow, and convey a wide range of emotions and fluid moments was just a really cool thing to see in 2002 (this feeling was compounded by how relatively shitty puppet-Yoda had been in TPM).

Perosnally I wasn't going to consider games that simply had comedic moments, but Old World Blues is definitely a full-blown comedy.

That's almost always the case in instances like this; IH would have to do something overtly heinous to get the majority of his fanbase to sour on him. Then again, we live in a timeline where Musk still has a career after belting out a double Nazi salute, so all bets are off in that regard as well.
