...if you're a PC gamer. for as inoffensive as MS was, they did provide content and software to look forward to in the near future. Sony barely did and the big games are 2018+.

but please buy a PS4 Pro.

i have to agree on that. MS def was the superior show. here they were practically begging you to get the PS4 Pro and giving you graphics guide for dummies, which was just weird. MS gave you a top notch system and lowered the price of their current one.

also MH Remake isn't exclusive, it'll be on XBone and PC. so it was cool but nothing unique there.

and you're missing Skyrim VR!

mario maker was exclusive for quite a bit, then it got the 3ds port. nobody really expected it to get that. smash and breath of the wild, hell twilight princess... they weren't really called exclusives by themselves? "which one should i get?" type questions came up for all of them with plenty of comparisons of "current gen vs. last gen," or "console vs. handheld."

eh, ps4 pro seems to be in this no man's land middle space. it doesn't seem to really meet anyone's wants and is quite a bit weaker than x1x. both feel kinda useless on a 1080 screen but I'm not seeing a ton of use for the pro so far even with one.

the 1080p and 60 FPS stuff is neat. it honestly exists just to enhance the PS4's games and that's kind of all i really want out of it. i dunno what the X1X will ultimately do but if console generations end that's probably the sort of thing that can do it, that thing's just massively more powerful to the point where the xbone successor might as well just drop the original xbone and continue from where the X1X left off.

oh if you're building from scratch then there's no question on it - X1X is your cheapest high end option. bang for buck come holiday season will probably be the PS4 Pro, which is something you can match with a couple upgrades, though has a lot of Sony games that work well. if you want something that's small, a future proof BD player, and in the living room too? X1X is much cheaper than anything else you can build right now. there's a value there, it's just not for me and i laugh at $500 consoles since i'm just in it for the games.

$500 could depend a bit on what you want it to do. the thing does pack itself a nice BD player inside which most PCs don't have and would be considered in that "upgraded" cost if you intend to use that aspect. 12GB VRAM is a crazy amount and future proofs the system well for a bit, nevermind the sheer size of the machine. the only technical concern i have is liquid cooling because i don't know what it's really doing there and what risk of failure it adds, though if it's done well that'd be fine too. it's just expensive, especially compared to the PS4 Pro which is $400 now and could potentially be $300 come holiday season. but it's a very good piece of hardware which could have a place in a living room that a PC can't do.

yes, two separate Microsoft platforms. meaning you're still looking at two separate platforms to play your games from. calling that exclusive is a marketing or branding trick which works for the company or talking about their strategy but doesn't really matter on the consumer side or just plain the english language - you can find the games on platform 1 or platform 2. that makes it not exclusive anymore.

MS is actively trying to get games into their store on PC. it's a good thing, not a bad one like it's being portrayed.

i don't think anybody's said it's a bad thing, it's just not something you give them extra points for in the conference. they're still trying to sell you the hardware and it's not like you're going to stop using Windows.

for what it's worth, some of those are unique to their store while others like Cuphead and i assume The Last Night aren't. so there's a weird mix between GFWL 2.0 and Steam in the PC releases which probably should be figured out.

part of how i'd consider a conference is how much it makes me want to get what you're selling.
microsoft is in an awkward position where they have to compete with themselves, Nintendo's in a unique position where they can mostly live off their library and create a fantastic system, and Sony gets to play around with the most range of exclusivity and multiplatforms.

they didn't do anything bad, nothing was offensive... well, save the $500 price tag for X1X but it's a nice piece of hardware at least. just mind the liquid cooling. making the old console half the price of the new one does make me think that this is an end to generations as we know it, the X1X will probably get some games exclusive to its capabilities too in 3 years' time. by then a new hardware upgrade will be needed and the originals may be mostly phased out at that point. plenty of stuff was good, they just didn't sell you the product. dock a full letter for that.

no there were not.

and that's by design too. microsoft is pushing for microsoft exclusives, not Xbox. and i can dig that, assuming they don't try to lock everything down behind GFWL 2.0. i don't think that many are down with it, the conference just wasn't blowing people away. some games looked good, most games looked somewhere in the middle, and the ones that looked really good can be found elsewhere. everyone should walk away wanting a couple games that were shown but very few should walk away wanting an Xbox. personally i'd go with B- as a result - competent but not something that great.

unfortunately... hospice is not a very uncertain situation. everyone knows what's happening once they reach that level and you at least know that much. for now the focus will be on comfort. if you want to help him out then talk to his wife. at least, i assume he's married if he's got two kids. if she's gonna be a single mom with two kids that ain't easy and she will probably need some extra support, whether it's from the rest of her family, his family, or his friends. that's probably the best way you can help.

You want conclusive proof against the meter argument you'd want a scene where she's spamming them.

honestly i'd say it depends on the super. like i don't think there's anything really preventing something like Zangief using an Ultimate Atomic Buster on multiple people in a row but for a giant beam attack i assume it's just a case where you gotta charge up for a bit, fire it off, then have to cool down for a bit, making it not-spammable at all.

are there any other cutscenes that need to be hunted down? got Johnny's mist finer spam over a large area, Slayer vs. Bedman, Sol's missile, Venom + Robo-Ky vs. Bedman (though this is really Venom's absurd super that is more impressive than his IKs ever have been), there anything else that's been mentioned as a reference for GG's power level? KJH mentioned Dizzy having a good showing against the anti-matter gears but it's mostly giant beam with seemingly no setup.

but for completion's sake:

1:22:35 is Dizzy's only (?) appearance.

when did they establish that he beat dizzy in the alt timeline? thought that was generally considered her win but I-No time looped to fix that.

speaking of Slayer though.

1:20:20 - Slayer vs. Bedman. mountains and hills getting disintegrated, Slayer's punch being a distant hit that sends him flying backwards a huge distance, and much more. worth seeing if you want to understand the power levels of those higher in the GG universe but Slayer is fast.

i'd just be very, very cautious about using IKs for anything if they're from the older games. Xrd is honestly a bit more tricky. some of them are still goofy but others... are not the strongest the character's been.

the biggest example is Venom i think. he goes from a guy who's completely unimpressive to, well.



the dude pulls a giant, celestial pool stick.
also Chipp is generally pretty good for speed stuff, though Johnny's strikes are a whole other level. Sol and Ky aren't given as much respect there in Xrd but Ky > Johnny is pretty well affirmed, though i'd still think Johnny strikes faster with Mist Finer. Sol > Ky at everything is also pretty consistent. Dizzy ranges from being above Sol (when she's gone nuts) to being between the two (normal).

mm... that's fair i guess. GG is definitely lacking in speed feats, i'm pretty sure that's the only calculated speed in the series. johnny slashing bedman with leo can also be seen in that script:

which is the idea that johnny slices air at massively large distances. he's a sword user who slices so fast, he has a gunner's range.
don't have the vid of that though. not really a case for Dizzy either but hey, at least you'll know where that came from.
