It is indeed a big financial ask. Japanese people are used to paying that much money for things (seriously, look up the prices of anime and movie releases of BluRay etc over there- they're like 8,000+ yen) but most of the rest of the world isn't. You almost can't even launch a Steam VN in English that's even 30-40+ hours long at full game price in the west, much less a shorter one.

I'm not sure I would say Japan is really on board with that. Anime BR releases don't sell very much. Like selling a few thousand copies is considered a lot. Like I'm sure stuff like Demon Slayer sold an absurd amount. But, many don't even hit 1000.

Trigger the Eventide Island quest
Pick your equipment up off the floor
Go to town

But, it's a cool part of the game so it's more fun to play it normally.

Technically, you are right that that isn't a mobile game. But, it's kind of a cheat since that game is mix of Pokemon GO mechanics with standard Pokemon gameplay and the "Go" in the title is a reference to the mobile game.

Fates is fine. It fits their trend of one-word subtitles based on vibes. Awakening, Fates, Echoes. All decent. The vanilla ice cream of titles.

Echoes probably didn't turn out as expected. The full title is "Fire Emblem Echoes: Shadows of Valentia" and the subtitle is the SoV part. The "Echoes" part was probably supposed to be branding for remake games but we can't really say for certain until they release another one. Considering how often people refer to SoV as "Echoes" they may even abandon the idea.

I did this.

It's a normal Fire Emblem game.

It doesn't take that long to grind every class to Lv20 if you want to do that. Don't grind for all the X Gems. That's going to take like 20+ hours and you'll never use a bunch of them. Definitely do not grind for I to IX Gems that you can't even use after getting the X Gem just to fill in the holes. I drew the line at upgrading Soulhacker skills. I'll upgrade them if I need them.

I liked both Nia and Melia's quests quite a bit. I was sad there wasn't more of it.

I felt like all of the superbosses were a joke. None of them had enough Break resist to stop me from constantly flipping them over. I didn't try levelling any of them up, though. One thing I did like was how there was a cutscene before Seraphic Ceratinia. I didn't expect the game to have any more cutscenes at that point. Perilwing was a big of a pain since it kept running around and stalling for time. But, it just didn't have enough damage output to get past my healers.

In the end Consul A never shows up so I imagine they show up in the DLC. He better not be Alvis. >_>

The Riku plotline just kinda disappears. I think Noah saying he'll believe Riku even though he obviously doesn't was the last we heard of it. So Riku really isn't special beyond being a particularly skill mechanic.

I'm pretty hyped for the DLC but it is so far away. I'm also still feeling withdrawal symptoms since suddenly I'm not playing Xenoblade 3 for hours and hours each day.

Let's be fair here, Fates had a bunch of characters from the previous game and that had nothing to do with Heroes.

It was completely shit in both concept and execution and made Fates worse but, you know, nothing to do with Heroes!

(Also Nintendo considers Heroes a mainline title)

The DLC explaining why Severa, Inigo and Owain are in Fates is considered one of the better parts of Fates story. One of the few positive things people will say about the story.

We don't really know enough about the gameplay to say much about it beyond that fact that the gameplay looks like a Fire Emblem game. Visuals aside, the rings seems kinda sort of like Battalions right now but the details matter and we don't have them.

Price of Freedom is such a good song.

I wonder how many rings there will be in total. 12 rings might not even be enough to give a ring to every member of an endgame team.

I think Marth will be at least as prominent as Sothis. I'm less certain how much screen time any of the other ring characters will get. It is fairly typical for Fire Emblem to have a bunch of characters that don't really contribute much to the main story and only really show up in supports after their recruitment chapter. Although, some of that is to get around the fact that characters can die for good. I assume ring characters can't actually die or be lost for good so the story can always assume they are around.

He already gives +1 Mov which is a good start.

There is no canon gender to any of the avatars in Fire Emblem.

Female Corrin is a lot more popular than male Corrin. Female Byleth is only a little more popular than male Byleth. So they probably made the right choice here.

Absolutely horrendous behavior.

I may have spent the last 8 hours doing nothing but complaining about how this game looks terrible and fuming internally about it, but have some common decency to keep it to local circles.

For the record, Intelligent Systems had to tell off the Japanese FE fanbase for this behavior not that long ago. So yelling at artists on Twitter is not something limited to just the Western side of the Fire Emblem fanbase.

When you say you don't like fanservice, are you including FF14 in that statement?

Noishe is your horse for a large part of the game so at least he shows up on screen.

Bad in what way? If you are referring to the PS3 version in Tales of Symphonia Chronicles, I think it was just the frame rate people took issue with (it was 30fps like the PS2 version) and some odd typos in the script. Otherwise, it's pretty much ToS with all the extra PS2 content.

The new FE looks bad and it's not just the hair. The narrative idea of calling on old characters feels super cheap and mobilegameish. I have incredibly low expectations.

It doesn't just feel mobiegameish. This is actually the plot of the mobile Fire Emblem Heroes. In FEH, the Kingdom of Askr has a summoner (the player avatar) who summons characters known as Heroes from past Fire Emblem games to help them fight off invading forces.

The Nia and Melia side quests were very good. They make me want more but there isn't anymore. ;_; Also the Xenoblade 1 and 2 music kinda drives how much more more I liked the music in those games compared to 3. Although, the Xenoblade 3 Chain Attack song is really good which is nice because it plays a lot. >_>

I went through the ending again and it still takes like 90 minutes even with maxed out characters. I'm also sad all over again at the ending. I'll start a New Game+ someday but probably not immediately.

I finished Soul Hacking all the UMs. I don't really want to grind up all the skills so I guess I'm done with the game until DLC comes out. It took me 200 hours to beat the game and my final game time is 262 hours. Grinding for X Gems is a bad idea. Don't do it.

Torna DLC is very good but it is padded due to the mandatory side quest completion checks. Even if you do every side quest, it isn't even possible to pass the second check before doing the quests that open at the same time. With that said, I did enjoy growing the Community and getting to know all the NPCs so I did all the quests anyways.

If Disney+ is deciding to actually simulcast shows, that's a good thing. It doesn't help anyone to screw over future shows even if mistakes were made in the past.

Rumors have said it will be on Disney+. But, D+ doesn't simulcast anime so I'm not sure that will actually happen.

Hearing Ichigo yell out Bankai gave me chills.

I was going through all the UMs that I killed already. Some of them I already Soul Hacked so I didn't think much of not getting a "Skill Acquired" ending. But, after a while I checked my Soul Hack list and noticed I was missing skills that I was supposed to have and realized the problem.

It wouldn't surprise me if Unlimited Sword just ignores all of Noah's equipped abilities and just replaces them with a predetermined set.
