The Nazis kinda messed it up for everyone because now people think fascism is only expressed as Nazism, and not just Nazism, it has to be late stage Nazism where minority groups are already being chucked in camps or worse. It's considered improper to call anything that obviously smacks of fascism what it is because we haven't yet turned the ovens on yet, even if we're cracking down on dissent, demonizing groups, becoming uber nationalist, attacking the press, stripping civil rights, becoming openly corrupt, having all problems solved by police or military violence, and restricting all wealth to a tiny economic, cultural, and racial elite. Even if coup attempts are being made, and people are openly arguing that it should be okay to do anything to certain classes of people (racial, economic, national, sexual/gender, legal status etc) Nah, it's fascism at its early stages. Maybe they have some other purpose that they are good at and that causes governments to pour so many resources into them and empower them while expecting no actual protection of the average person? The most important lesson I learned from a criminology class is this: the purpose of the police is social control. Not crime prevention, not establishing law and order, not protecting the innocent, not any of that stuff. They as the arm of the state for controlling undesirables, enforcing social and economic hierarchies, and roughing up agitators. If the Republicans go on to do bad things, that's because they're bad and want to do bad things, not because of the filibuster's presence or absence. If you're good at math and science, go with the suggestions so far in this topic. If you're better at writing/reading/communication, law could be a good idea if you can get into a top school and get a government or firm job. Consulting could also be a good goal if you have people and mental math skills for the interview process. Not sure if they let you work from home with Accenture/BCG/McKinsey etc level consulting though. Try to avoid struggling through something just for money, unless you don't have a clear strength. Even if you have the sacred title of comedian. Bigots actually use the trans bathroom rapist thing to stoke hatred as we speak. To mirror that language and make the joke about someone being mad about correcting misgendering, while making the premise that the hypothetical trans person did or might rape someone in the bathroom is disgusting. It would be one thing if the subject of the joke was the transphobes, but it's not. If that was the case, the joke would be spicy, but not bigoted or offensive. In one joke, he's raised the spectre of the trans bathroom rape smear and made trans people or the people who defend them to target of the joke. That's what makes it wrong. No topic is technically off limits, but when you tackle it in a way that perpetuates harmful stereotypes, you're gonna bed pushback.
