i cooked with tempeh for the first time a few days ago. it was a little pricey coming in at $8 for 16oz. but i liked how hearty it was and the flavor was subtle and nutty-ish. will probably cook with this again, but i feel like i need to find a cheaper source. or maybe i'll just stick with $2.79 tofu.

any wood deck will need regular maintenance. washing + staining / sealing every few years, replacing damaged or warped boards, etc. 'composite' material will last much longer and doesn't need re-stained or sealed (I don't think), but costs significantly more up front.

do you really need a "deck"? I'm thinking that when mine finally reaches EoL, I'm just gonna tear it down and pour a concrete patio instead.

broccoli was on sale and was 1/2 the cost of cauliflower, so i made my rice n beans recipe with that instead. i love broccoli, but it was a bit too 'strong' of a taste, won't do again. gonna try a scrambled block of tofu next time, i think.

adding the tofu worked out nicely. $2.49 for a block and all I did was press it, then dropped it into the skillet along with the onion + pepper, breaking it up into crumbles with a spoon. it absorbed the spices nicely and makes the meal a bit more filling. will probably continue to do this.

but it shouldn't be specific to gender. women can take advantage of men, too.

oh yeah, i have that one too. it's solid, but i mostly focus on main courses and it only has like a dozen or so?

i loved their 'normal' cookbook back when i was an omnivore. it has relatively simple recipes that use relatively common ingredients (no going to the back of the Asian market for that one thing) and it explains stuff well.

i'm normally pretty happy with TJs stuff, but hate dealing with how busy it can get. i go during off hours, like a Tuesday at 8:00, and stock up on stuff. it's literally just Aldi's marketed towards suburbanites.

Got the new Plant Based on a Budget cookbook in the mail today! Pumped to see what's in it. I have the author's first book and I liked it because it was all pretty simple stuff and putting effort into cooking sucks.
